Yacht Venus

Hi all.
I'm in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for vacation.
I had lunch today in the capital town of Charlotte Amalie.
The harbor is filled with cruise ships and yachts of all sizes.
Below is a pic I took with my iPhone (very appropriate, as you will read) of the Yacht Venus.
This yacht was built for Steve Jobs and was completed about a year after his death. The design is described as minimalistic with no unneeded lines. Reminds me of how Jobs designed his products.
Very cool.

House in the CA hills maybe, but not a yacht, not a fan of the apple-boat. JMHO

Yeah well there's nothing about a 78m yacht that screams minimalist regardless of who was supposed to own it.

Thankfully his boat designer does not touch his IT design, imagine the knock down deal somebody must have got on that, yes it cost us $85M to design and build but for you....$2M driveaway.....Just keep your dark sunglasses on.

I'm guessing his family took ownership, they were in a battle with the construction company that built it, the company wanted money before they would deliver it and that was contested. Not sure if it was sold right away or if it's being offered as a charter or if they are using it?

It looks ok to me. Almost an art deco kind of thing going on.

But I suppose, who am I to judge, since it's a lot nicer than my yacht.

According to what I found on Google, the yacht is owned by Jobs' widow. As was mentioned above there was a financial matter for a brief period before the boat was released to the estate.
From what I read Steve Jobs had little involvement in the design of the yacht but total involvement in the interior layout. He would spend 1 day every 6 weeks, for 5 years, going over interior details in explicit micro-management.
Many have commented here about this not being an attractive design, and I would generally agree. However, the boat looks like something that the founder of Apple would appreciate. Jobs may not have had a lot of exterior involvement but I have to believe he approved the concept drawings. The lines and clean look of the yacht remind me in some ways of Apple products. The beauty is in the simplicity. Or, I could just be totally screwed up!
Btw, one final thought, the lines of this yacht remind me of the work of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The various google pics of "Venus" do indeed make the yacht look good IMO.

Ok, for all you yacht purists, here is a pic I took this morning at Magen's Bay Beach.
This is a beautiful beach and often earns Top 10 honors in the world's best beaches polls.
This yacht was anchored in Magen's Bay. As opposed to Venus, this is very traditional with graceful lines.

I agree, maybe a more derivative disciple, hence my California Hills comment.

Frank Lloyd Wright or world's largest Houseboat barge. I love boats and Art Deco and I am still going with houseboat..... There have been some extreme edgy boats come out, but for me this sure is not it. Give me a 50's Feadship with a secret underwater dive platform any day (Called the Disco Volante). I am lucky enough to live just up from the Sydney luxury yacht marina and see amazing ships from 80-200ft and every one of them is better looking than this. If you want to look at what wealth can buy Roman Abromovich wins hands down, I think he has something life 14 yachts in his fleet including the attached....
