Rolex Appraisal question.

Hello everyone, I just dropped off my Rolex to get appraised (for insurance) at my AD today, sorry for the newbie question, but what will they do to appraise a Rolex? Will they check the movement and serial#? Is the appraisal certificate the same thing as certificate of authenticity? I asked the lady but she couldn't answer all my questions....I'm new to the whole appraisal and insurance department, I bought the rolex here on TRF from a trusted seller.......thanks in advance, have a great day everybody.

Rolex Appraisal question.

They will appraise it for what ever model Rolex you have is worth current Retail value and i think plus tax. No your appraisal certificate has nothing to do with warranty. The experts here will chime in if i'm wrong, but i think it's along those lines. Oh' and they will know authenticity, if they find otherwise they wont touch it. But if you got it from a trusted seller here you are good to go.

Should be a simple process of writing the serial & model number, along with a replacement value on paper. They may open the case just to verify that it is a Rolex movement.

Don't know about the USA but here in the UK not all insurance companies require you to have an insurance valuation providing you have the original receipt of purchase. Worth looking into this in case the same their. AM.

As the others have stated, you'll get a letter signed by an appraiser with the model, serial number, and replacement cost for your watch (probably MSRP or MSRP+Tax). Some insurance companies, like mine (Country Financial), will charge based on the MSRP ($9 per $1k covered per year for replacement).

If you have a similar policy to mine it might be a good idea to get an replacement appraisal every few years, because the replacement value of the item will go up when Rolex raises their prices.

YMMV, as this is just my experience.

My local Authorized Dealer will provide me with a written appraisal for $50. That includes all the details on letterhead and a movement check. I think I'm going to take them up on it. It's a perfect opportunity for me to take a couple of pics while it's open.

Go for it. Mine was twice as expensive.

Mayor's did mine, the appraiser confirmed it was authentic, then took a picture. Later I got paperwork saying that the replacement cost was such and such. $75 cost.
