looking for information on Quick set
My 1984 Sub has quickset. I read that if you have quickset, it has one stop before the stop that sets the time. instructions say, unscrew the crown and allow it to pop up, then pull to the next click, and turn clockwise to quick set the date. I followed this instructions a few times and just decided my watch has no quick set. I've turned it and turned it clockwise as instructed. I never thought about it anymore until I read that quick set became available around 1977 and most Rolexes after that had Quick set. S all these years I thought I had no quickset. I've turned it a few times counter clockwise and nothing happened. Well today while investigating this feature further, I found that I did have a first stop that appears to do nothing. I reread the instructions and it did indeed say turn clockwise.. Anyway to make a long story extremely long. I unscrewed the crown, moved the crown to the first stop. Turned clockwise and it did nothing. Then I turned it counter clockwise, and to my surprise after 30 years, I do in fact have quick set. So may question is.. are my instructions wrong? or do some models have a quick set feature that functions clockwise, while other have this feature when turning counter clockwise?
I feel a bit embarrassed at this revelation after 30 years. Its nice to know I have it. Thanks for any info on this clockwise, counter clockwise issue Bill |

I know you are trying to help but my issue is Not with the hands or the time.. its about the quickset Date. for 30 years I have been setting the date by turning the hands in a 24 hours sweep( two complete 12 hours cycles ) to change the date by one day unit. When using the quick set feature , the hands do not move in either direction.
If my watch stopped, on the 4th and I wanted to wear it the week end of the 30th, I would have to turn those hands 52 full revolutions to get the date from the 4th to the 30th. With quick set I can go from 4 to 30 in about 5 seconds. without quickset date it would take about 2 minutes. and with the sharpness of the crown flutes, it can make a nice blister. Still looking for quick date information on what others do to quick set their watch. IM still loki9ng at the possibility of incorrect directions, or different watches change the date byt turning different directions. Bill |

FYI - read this thread. Many others like it. The difference is between the movement - 3035 vs. 3135 to set the date - clockwise vs. counter clockwise.

Sorry Bill, I just spat my wine all over the keyboard. Go straight back to where you bought it and demand a full refund based on poor instructions. You will need to improve big time to regain any cred mate.
