I sent my watch to RSC for a warranty issue and it came back with a bunch of new scratches on the case back that weren't there before so I'm debating whether or not to send it back. There's also damage on they screws which they deny they did and a few new scratches on the bracelet. I am very meticulous with my watch and know every mark that was there or not. So needless to say I am disappointed with RSC.

My AD also advised me not to polish the case back as most people do not ever get it polished. I'd like to know your thoughts and if I should go ahead or not and will getting it polished affect its resale value??

I don't have it brushed and polished since it's not seen by anyone - but at the same time I don't get damage to that area anyway...

Just received my Explorer 1 back from RSC and it looks new. They will bring the watch back to factory standards, so I assume that the back of the case will need to be polished, if it needs (mine did not).

In your case (if damage was done during service) then do what makes you feel better. If you keep it a lifetime and the case back ends up being "over polished", you would lose some value. But you can always buy a new case back. They aren't serial numbered so that wouldn't hurt resale value in truth.

Caseback polishing is part of the overall RSC service polish. Sometimes I ask for a light polish, if the watch can take it and retain its original shape, sometimes I specify no polish. Caseback is never a specific issue, but they do look nice when newly brushed (if that's the original style).

i just give it in. they give it back. my 16610LV is in the shop now. i'll have a look if the crown estimate ends up requiring a full service.
