My Explorer II 216570 arrives Tuesday---

In setting up the watch, it seems that you can rotate the hands either clockwise or counterclockwise to set the GMT hand and the hour hand for the date. Is this correct?

I take it that you can set up the watch including the date at any time during the day---no admonition against making the change between 10pm and 2am like "quick set" date watches.

Getting excited!!! The ability to change the hour hand without stopping the watch is soooo much better than my ETA 2893 GMT.

First thing the manual says is to set the GMT hand then use the quick set to adjust hour hand.

Thank you for the congrats guys!

I ordered the polar version. Black is beautiful, but I find that the hands tend to "gray out" against the black face unless lit properly. (This is also true of my other black face watches including the Explorer I.) So, my getting older eyes appreciate the greater visibility of the black hands on the polar version.

Good for you and welcome to the 216570 Club! Yep.....setup is painless. Just follow the instructions and come back to TRF with any questions. I really like the enhanced visibility, the Easylink adjustment and especially, I like being able to simply jump the hour hand as needed. Enjoy!

You guys are feeding the excitement!! I don't believe it will look too large even though my wrist is barely 7". I have a German marine deck watch with 52mm lug to lug dimensions and it looks OK--at least to my eyes. :-)

My 1.6mm screwdriver and spring bar tool are awaiting its arrival!

Arrived, adjusted and on the wrist! Removed two links and moved the Easylink placement. Getting a pliers type spring bar tool sure helped with the Easylink. What a beautiful watch. Right now I have the GMT hand set for GMT but may move to London time where we have family. When we travel, I'll set to PDT and adjust the 12 hour hand to the destination.

A quick and dirty wrist shot! Thank you all for the guidance. It is quite easy to set up.
