Aquanaut 5164 Rotor noise question....

Hello everyone here on TRF! Having read the posts here on the 5167 model, it appears that many owners acknowledge (and in some cases, complain) about the "noisy" rotor in the 5167 Aquanaut. Having owned one, I do know that it makes a fairly audible noise in a normal wearing environment.

With that said, I wanted to reach out to the owners of the 5164 (Travel) version to see if that model was any different in that regard. So, owners of the 5164, is the rotor noise less than.....equal to.....or greater than.....the noise made by the 5167?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The 324 movement does have audible rotor noise as a "feature" :)

Music to my ears, 5167, 5711. I think the steel is more audible than gold, it has a different pitch.

may be just me though.

I love the whirling noise. It's a mechanical watch and I enjoy hearing the mechanics work.

The first time I heard it I was horrified

Now I enjoy it. The watch sings to me, literally!

Hey Chris. You had your 5167 incoming right around the same time I got mine. Is it flipped already? May I ask why and if so what did it make room for???

Loved the 5167...almost the perfect watch for me...but had to flip to make room for something else. There's only enough room for one Patek in my collection right now and decided to go with something a bit more iconic. All will be explained later haha. Pics to come...on my way to size the new Patek now

That's great and I totally understand. I had to let some pieces go to make way for my 5167. Congrats in advance and can't wait to see you incoming!

Iconic and needing to get it sized you say? Hmmm, could it be a 5711? Whatever it is, congrats and looking forward to the pics.

Come on post pics. You don't have to wait for it to be sized.

Back to the 5164. I have heard it wind but only when I made it wind and the listened. That is the only time I have ever heard mine. Then again my wife says I am deaf so take my answer for what it's worth!

After wearing mostly Rolex it took time to get used to the sound of the 5167A, but now I love it's sweet music!

I love the watch I don't really like the sound. I wont sell mine because of the sound I "accept" it as a feature of the model, if I had the choice it would not be there, had I known up front it would be that loud on my wrist I probably would not have got it. That said I like every other part of the watch.

yep and the 5164 is nothing compared to the 5524G. That one is loud and i dont know why there is such a difference but there is.

It doesnt bother me though, but it bothers some people i guess.

I have self proclaimed excellent hearing and haven’t ever noticed my 5164 - generally wear it once a week with long sleeve dress shirt

The rotor is music to my ears. Admittedly I flick my wrist every now and then to hear the sound.

On my 5164, I can hardly hear any rotor noise at all. I have to take it off and bring it to my ear to hear the rotor, so it's quite silent.

I remember hearing it every so often when I moved my wrist and was not a big deal. Some of the ETA movement based watches... now those are loud.

Agree. I wear my 5167 fairly frequently but at one point in a quiet meeting room speaking to a client 1-2-1 i can actually hear the rotor is was a tiny bit embarrassing LOL he must have thought i had some cheap a** watch on my wrist making a racket.
