AD called Daytona is in..questions
After a year on the list (I know a short wait) my AD called and a white SS Daytona is in and they would sell it to me for MSRP, questions I have are:
1- What serial # or letter is the latest 2008 model? 2- I called them last month and they said check back this month. When I called today they said yes we have one. Do you think they waited to the price went up to sell me one? Not that it would change my mind but it would show me the true colors of this AD 3- Anything else I should think about before I purchase. New model coming soon?? My mind is made up on the Daytona so not looking for advice on another model. Thank you!! Ed |

Hi Ed,
Best of luck with your new Daytona. I love mine ! Its simply stunning !! The Latest Serial letter is "M". Before that it was "Z". There might be a new Daytona released at Basel in a few weeks. They might update the entire range.. But who knows ?? Rolex don't leak :( I would snap it up. They don't come around that often !! |

As Stefan stated, no one but Rolex knows.
Never say no to an SS Daytona, even at new MSRP. Besides that, whether it's going to be a Z- or an M-series does not really matter. They'd be identical. So big congrats and please do post pic when you get the time!

Congratulations. Like Bo says Z or M same watch. BTW, I've seen at least a dozen posts where people are speculating that the AD might have held the watch back waiting for the price increase. Who can't say that Rolex USA or Rolex SA didn't hold back shipments to AD's until after the price increase. Just wondering.

That's a nice surprise. I'd get it and change the dial to black! I hear RUSA can do this for the owner for a fee.

Does it really matter if it is the latest serial number or not? Does it really matter if they had it at the old price or not? The fact is that you are getting a new Daytona from an AD at list price, even if it is after the most recent mark-up. Some of these guys are griping about their SD's or GMT IIc's, etc. Those watches aren't that hard to come by. IMO-A brand new Daytona is a totally different story. I bet most people here who want one would snap it up in a second.

DOn't even hesitate.....If I were lucky enough to come across one, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat! Not really looking for one but I wouldn't let an opportunity like this pass me by!

I have not been paying attention and did not know the price increased. It is getting close to what I paid for my TT late last year. Did prices on all Daytonas increase or just the SS?
EDIT: I just reviewed all the new prices at Alan Furman. Ugh!!!

A 'Z' and an 'M' SS Daytona may not be identical. Some 'Z's might have a plain internal ring and some might have the 'Rolex' crb and s/n on the internal ring. Most 'M's will have this feature.
IMO we we would be up to about M600*** by now. Personal choice will dictate which one you like. Personally I would go for the latest 'M' but that is my preference. I don't think it makes much difference to resale.

116520 is the current model and 16520 is the older, zenith model.
