ROLEX --- 1979 Vintage GMT Master "Tiffany & Co."

Hey guys, I am pretty new here and I really appreciate the help. I came across a watch that would be a great one for me I think but really dont know that much and dont want to make a bad buy.

Ebay item 350868897761

My wife works for Tiffany and has for a long time so there is that link...it is my birth year as well and I love the look. Anything I should be concerned with and any opinions on value? I have done a bunch of reading but there just doesnt seem to be much info on these (with the co-branded dial).

Once again, thanks so much for any advice and feedback (good or bad.)

Cheers!

Without a sales receipt from Tiffany's, there is no way to definitively know that it is authentic and came with "Tiffany & Co." On the dial. There are many authentic watches where the extra text was added to the dial at a later date to attempt to collect a higher premium even though it did not really come from Tiffany's

Thanks a ton. That is sort of what I was thinking too. Might be paying for nothing.

Oops I meant Jason's post. If the price is not much more than regular dial, why not? But paying a premium is not wise since there is no way of proving unless with sales receipt. Cheers

If your wife works for Tiffany's...any way of checking the serial number with company sales records? A long shot, I know.

I asked her that and she said that their system allows them to look up the purchase history of a person but not serial numbers, at least not the systems she has access too. Good idea though. Also not sure if the records would go back that far.
