Fair deal? DJII +$7K for BNIB Daytona

Have a deal pending for BNIB steel daytona, white face for $7K+ 2011 DJII. I feel it's fair, but seeing some of the sale prices on here for both I wonder if I could have done better by $2K.

Thanks!

To me it seems like a really high price. I doubt I would have gone for NIB however. Congratulations on the new Daytona!!!

Yep, you probably could've done better by $1.5-2k, but if you're trading it into a brick-and-mortar AD you're paying for convenience; nothing wrong with that. AD's pay about $7,500 for a SS Daytona so they're basically getting your DJ2 for $500. Congrats on the Daytona, though!

No!!

Your DJ II is about $6000

Daytona about $11500

Trade your DDII plus $5500 Maximum in my opinion.

Which version of the DJii? If it's a smooth bezel one, I'd say the deal seems about right (used DJII + 7k for a BNIB 116520).

Thanks, but where could I buy Daytona for better rate? Even on this forum I see $10.500 for 2010/2011. And ~4,500 for DJII. All advice welcome and thank you!

You would do better to sell the DJII privately and buy the Daytona, but, a trade at an AD has the advantage of convenience (which comes at a steep price).

Yes, smooth bezel. From what I see here, used daytonas are ~$10.5. And the DJII in $4's, maybe $5. That's why I was thinking new. Can AD discount daytona?

Definitely go private with the sales if possible. It may take longer, but if you can wait a couple weeks it will be worth your while.

Personally I don't buy new Rolex, because of the immediate loss in value. Another option might be a NOS Daytona if you can find one

Remember someone will always say you could have done better, all that matters is if you are happy with your deal...if you are make it, and don't give it a second thought.

If you haven't finalized the deal, I think you can do better on both sides as others have said. If you have already completed the deal, sit back and enjoy your new daytona and don't worry about it!

maybe you missed something

re-read some of the posts

go to the Rolex Classified Forum on this site

Find any of the trusted sellers (you can go to the who's who forum to find out)

Contact them and see what they can do for you

Even if you sell the watch yourself here on the forums, you're only going to get maybe $5500-5700. The AD price of the daytona is 12k plus tax so I really don't think their $7k offer was that bad for a brick & mortar store.

If you can sell the DJ2 yourself and buy new daytona from a grey dealer here on the forums, you might whittle the difference down to $5k.

Trading the DJ2 against the daytona with a trusted seller here on the forum will probably land you somewhere in the middle. My 2¢.

Insight was great and appreciated. I'm comfortable with deal, not ecstatic. buying daytona was easy part of decision. Selling DJ vs trade was where I struggled. Without lots of positive feedback I would hesitate buying used watch - and believe the market would shy from interest on my sale.

Could have done better 1-2k. That dj ii smooth bezel does get boring after a short while. I understand why you would want to trade. It's plain Jane.
