Worst selling new Rolex

I searched for a thread on this but was unable to find one. What do you think the current worst selling Rolex is? (worst as in no one wants it, not worst selling because it out of people's price range)

If you're talking sports/tool models, I guess white dial Milgauss. There's probably all kinds of dress watches that don't sell well, too. ADs are always full of them.

As soon as you answer, I'll feel stupid for asking. What's the sd 4Ks?

It's what people inexplicably call the ceramic Sea-Dweller.

I'd believe it. The white Milgauss was almost my first Rolex... I just couldn't get past the lightning bolt.

Agreed. A while back, someone posted a list showing that the Milgauss was the lowest volume seller of the Rolex Professional line. And of course, the Cellini line was never Rolex's strongest performer, but that was before the recent refresh.

At the ADs I frequent, the SDc has been a good seller. That being said, there may be some truth to the above as Jomashop did have that clearout on eBay recently, so other ADs must have had excess SDc inventory they needed to move.

4K because it's depth rated to 4,000 feet.

Yeah, but the old one was rated to 4,000 feet as well. The "4K" offers no distinction between either model.

Honestly I've been following the 116600 (Sea dweller ceramic) since its release and I don't feel like it's moving as well as Rolex had hoped. Made a thread about it and one of the causes TRFers suggested might be people don't want to pay a premium for a slightly modified sub. Both of my local ADs always have them in stock.

When the SD was dropped back in 2008 in favour of the DSSD, Rolex should have left well enough alone.

Ha, yeah! I could get used to the bolt. May be an acquired taste. There are many things I like about it but it didn't ring to me like the Sub...

Had they made the SDc 4k a 42mm it would have been one of their top 2 selling watches this year.

42mm and this would be flying. I've heard from a reputable dealer they are very slow to move. Although if the preowned prices drop I will definitely consider it.

I think they should have made it $2k smaller.

Considering MSRP is around 10k not including tax, grey market is already there.

They're going for just under $9k from the sellers here. My point is in my opinion the watch should have been priced $500 above a SubC Date.

Oh yea I definitely agree there. I love the lugs but I'm having a hard time swallowing the premium price for it.

Regarding the new ceramic SD4000, in the WIS community i Sweden anyway it is extremy popular, how it sells in general I do not know, but I do not think as bad as some of you guys think...

Sure the White Millie do not fly off the shelfs but I have had one and it is a fun happy watch but as with all watches that are a little different it is not a watch that you buy if you only want one watch, you buy it when you have a few others watches..

T/T YM I cannot see that Rolex sells alot of, a bit dated look overall on that perticular watch IMHO...

Air King I think sells better then you think as a lot of women go for the Air-King I think...

The Rolex OP is were I put my money on the wost selling Rolex (wich is odd as I REALLY like it)

Yeah, most buyers don't frequent forms like we do. The price difference between the SD and the Sub seem to put the SD at a disadvantage. If it had been a tad larger buyers could have seen something for the price point.

I would think certain models/dials combos have seen some Datejust in AD that I have never seen on forum. But overall as a category I would bank on AirKing these days, popular in used market as an entry level.

I would have thought skydweller. Never seen anyone wearing one.

Not an elegant watch IMO.
