SS GMT2C or SS Yacht

Guys, Should I purchased the GMT2 Ceramic or the SS Yacht Master? Got a SS sub with date and an Expy2 white face. My collection also includes a TT jubilee roman and a TT daytona white face fat hands a TT sub blue.

I'd also suggest the GMT IIc to get the GMT function for versatility's sake. Also, the clasp of the GMT IIc is different than the others, even the Daytona clasp. Furthermore, getting the ceramic bezel and AR coated cyclops might be enjoyable for you. Also the Maxi Dial is a great feature. Both have that, but the GMT IIc has both a maxi minute and hour hand. On the YM, only the markers and minute hand are maxi whereas the hour hand is normal size.

But why not just try them both on at an AD and choose the Rolex that appeals most to you?

Best of luck!

JJ is right there both wonderful watches, personally i would go for the functionality and wearability of the GMT II c but before you do, read my comment on my new GMT IIc, it may help. Having said all of that, its your wrist, what feels right, is right!

Wonderfull collection though my friend.

That`s just matter of personal taste,I would go for YM,it`s just more classy than GMT II c.

I've also owned both and but still own the GMTc. I love the YM but I love the GMTc clasp more. Everyday I wonder if I should sell my GMTc for the YM again, but I cant stand the cheap clasp on the YM. But If I had a Sub date I was get the YM with a GMTc clasp because of the different style cases.

Doesn't matter, as, based on your habits, you end up owning the other within time!

I agree with Vukotab that the YM is more classy, but I like the GMT IIc better. Maybe that means that I'm not classy.
The GMT IIc bracelet and clasp have a greater feel of quality in comparison to YM (IMHO).

I've owned both.

Bottom line, to each his own.

Both are great watches. To me, the YM looks almost unicolor. The GMT is better contrasted. You just have to try both on and see for yourself.

Had the same problem myself

Nice collection you got

I have myself for some time now tried to decide which watch should be my first Rolex: YM SS/Plat. og SS GMT II c.

First of all: Not to insult anyone owning either of these fine watches I have to state that I am quite a perfectionist and can find "faults" on almoust anything, so bear with me.

What I have conculeded is as follows:

I love the green 24 hours hand of the GMT II c, the fact that it can show two (tre using the besel) time zones. I also love the beauty and craftmansship of the clasp, and that it incorporates the parachrome blue hairspring. If I was to buy the GMT II c I would do so to get a "real mans watch" as opposed to a more dressy watch.

However I find the glossy ceramic bessel being a little to bling and "girly" for a "real mans watch". I also think the bracelet look ridiculously thin to the fat case. How much I love to look at the watch I really don't see mylself wearing it every day (and I want my first Rolex to be one I can and will use at every occasion).

The YM is almost the opposite of the GMT. To me it's a dress watch and kind of understated: It loks like a SS watch, but the bessel and dial is actually Platinium. Becaurse of this it can be used as a "sports-watch" (looking like SS, just mutch more shiny and "new") and, becaurse of the plat., like a really slick dress-watch.

However: I absolutely abhore the YM clasp! It looks like something made out of a tincan. Faking a bracelet on the clasp? Is this really a high end watch made partly of platinium?

What I have decided is bying the YM. But I will emediately replace the clasp with a Daytona clasp. In my opinion it will then be as close to perfect as a watch can be. (Just missing the Parachorem blue which i suspect will come at next Baselworld in most of Rolex models).

But this is just my opinion and tastes differ. God luck with your choice anyway
