I'm the young fogey who'll say it still isn't formal by any metric. That said, the slimmer case gives it a lot more versatility for dressiness than the current Submariner and GMT Master.
As for wearing with a suit, I think even those can be appropriate if the suit is something sporty like a heavy tweed or summery like linen. By the way, I'm not saying that the fact that it's informal is inherently bad. In fact the contrast can work in a fun way like wearing tan brogues with a dressy suit or some such. |
