Good luck with that. Just like all of the other Rolex's we see with price decreases!

Now discontinued precious metal Rolex with a much different gestalt and presence than the 36 and now 40mm DD. Maybe.

The price right now is a bargain I believe. Would not expect any lower.

I'm thinking it will stay the same. The Day Date IIs, while being discontinued are not rare. I don't think we will see an increase in their asking prices; maybe years down the road. They also are modern. I know the new DD40 is going to have a new movement but there is nothing about the DDII that is antiquated or "inferior" relative to everything else Rolex has on the market. In that respect, I don't see the prices on them dropping either.

Maybe the prices will rise, the DDII becoming collectable

Might seem cheaper when the 40 dd come out with the higher price tag for the movement .
Might not be that noticeable 1mm when your wearing it or walking by. Shouldn't effect the price. |

From my perspective the look is different other that the size. I'm guessing that they could become more collectible/more in demand. This means increased prices.

DayDate II "41" was only launched in 2008. and it's being discontinued this year (7 years). Hence, chances of price going up is more likely, IMHO.

Who knows, but if you look to the models that have been discontinued such as the pre-ceramic subs and GMT's, are their prices going ( or gone) down?
I bought a K series sub somewhere around 2004-5 for around 3k...which was fairly normal at that time. I've seen K serial subs go for around 5k now. Short answer, doubt it. |

Yes. They go lower. If you consider that the DDII crowd prides itself on being the newest, and they are no longer so, then that glory premium will come out in the secondary market. Plus, the DD40 has better overall proportions, better movement, and better bracelet.
