I don't own a gold watch, and don't wear gold. When I'm feeling really cheeky I wear a gold pinky ring with a diamond, but it's so gangster it only sees light rarely. I live in a very informal community, though very affluent, but gold and jewels raise eyebrows. You can ride a $20,000 bike or a $200,000 car without comment but a gold Rolex is over the top here.

Personally, a TT works for me. Full YG is a bit much for my personal tastes but love seeing them on others that rock them.

No WG, Rose Gold or Plat for me; like SS, like ful YG and really like TT SS/YG - especially in a Rolex. The rugged functionality of the SS with the richness, warmth and luxury of YG epitomizes, to me, modern Rolex - rugged, reliable, durable luxury.

I agree. I told my self I'd never get a watch with gold until I saw the 116613lb sunburst. My friends don't even care about watches and they even say it's their favorite on me and I've had many.

At my age (63 years old) I can wear white, yellow or rose gold without feeling awkward anymore. But I used to when I was younger. I just wear what I want to wear as long as it goes with my attire. But I find myself wearing steel most of the time.

I'm not a big gold fan at all, but this Sub in solid gold is absolutely stunning in person. I've worn a stainless and TT sub over the plast 20 years and purchased this watch about a year ago and use it as a daily watch. It will be the last watch I purchase and to me it fits in well dressed up in a suit or with a T-shirt, pair of board shorts and flip flops. It's all personal opinion... Just my 2 cents. Oh, by the way every change Rolex has made to this sub in my eyes has been a improvement.

In the same way a man should wear a suit and not the other way around, I wear my yellow gold GMT, it does not wear me. As for other's opinion, I am fortunate to not care much when it comes to material possessions. Someone who arbitrarily thinks a steel Rolex is "cool" but a yellow gold Rolex is brash, well, I won't go there...

Just does not fit my personality if that makes sense. I can't see myself wearing a yellow gold or two tone watch personally.
I have a few that I find extremely aesthetic(bluesy for example), but just not on me.

In all honesty it feels more like jewellery to me that is seeking more attention than I like my watches to.
I personally prefer a more discreet look.

I want to say that it helps my pockets, but rather it is steering me to the Patek Nautilus white dial direction. And it is becoming easy for me to justify it as I can't be spending that amount on a gold watch anyway

Anyone else the same?

I used to be the same way but my taste changed, my next Rolex will be a Day Date in yellow gold.

I don't like yellow gold at all, but it certainly can be stunning on watches and jewelry which others wear. Some of the gold and tt pics here are stunners, but I have no interest. I am not opposed to white gold or platinum but my watches will be almost exclusively SS.
