Crown problem with my GMT IIc TT... Help!

Hi guys

I've had this beauty since 2011, I only wear it on special occasions (max.10 times a year). I went to wind it today and noticed the crown comes out for the first click as normal but no longer pulls out for a second click so I cant set the time!

As you can imagine I had a full blown panic attack in the middle of my cornflakes! Does this issue sound familiar to anyone else? I wonder if the lack of use has somehow caused a problem.. a part might need greasing perhaps? I left it be as i don't want to accidently force it and do more harm than good.

Any thoughts, advice or sympathy would be most welcome!
thanks,
B

Try pushing it back in and jiggling it around then try again. Sometimes the stem isn't aligned and difficult to pull out.

The winding stem is a two part spring loaded device sometimes you have to just rotate it a bit until it releases and meshes then it will go into winding or time setting mode much easier, and yes most crown problems are simply down to lack of use.

I've had that issue with a DateJust. Nothing was wrong, just a quirky mis-alignment of the twinlock crown. It's your watch's way of telling you it's a beautiful timepiece, and life is too short not to wear it more often.

This has been my experience. I had a 16610 that was stored for a couple of years not being used. When I went to use it there were problems with the crown. I took it to my watchmaker (Rolex certified) and he said, "Don't use the crown much, huh?"

The stem needs to push and pull things out of the way to get where you want it. Don't be shy, give it a firm pull and turn it a bit...

Agreed, since it can't poop on your carpet like a dog not getting attention, this is its alternative.

Giggling the crown a little bit usually works for me.

The last time I giggled at one of my crowns, it just gave me a blank stare;-)
