When should I change the date?

I am sure this has been discussed before but cannot find it. When I change the date on my Rolex Date I always seem to mis-time it so it changes when it shouldn't and does not change when it should! I seem to recall the change should be done at a particular time of the day. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can change the date anytime on a Rolex. On some other watches where the date changes slowly, you should avoid changing the date while it's partially clicked over.

And I always set the time before setting the date. Rotate the hands forward until the date changes; then you know you're in the AM.

Thanks powerfunk. So I should wait until tomorrow morning, then rotate the hands till the date changes, then adjust the date till it reads correctly? And then hopefully at noon it will not change over!

No problem. You can rotate the hands now, or anytime. Go forward until the date clicks. Then set the time (if it's PM you need to rotate the hour hand around the dial once more). Then set the date and you're good to go.
