The Story of Paneristi Special Editions

Most of you may already know that Panerai released another special edition tribute to that forum and it's the fourth one.

I just made a short article about all those models :

Paneristi Special Editions

Let's post the pictures of those models here.

I think the biggest controversy by far was the 360, not the 532. The way it was distributed (it wasn't by lottery) generated a lot of hard feelings.

Also, I don't think the 195 is hands down worse than the 360....

If i had the privilege to choose one, it would be the 195 by far.
I love the "skinny" logo (as in the preV models) and my name engraved in the caseback would be perfection in a watch for life.

Below the differences in the logo. Pics from the internet.

195

360

Agree with Cru. The 360 was the controversial one, not the 532. Too political for a watch.

My choice would be 360 too but I like also the other models.

Very frankly, I would prefer 195 without the engraving. The watches should bear only the sign of the brands and not the individuals imo.

360 is lovely, i wouldn't mind if the logo was more representative of the original.

"A few years later Panerai came up with another Paneristi Edition model – PAM00532 Radiomir 1940. The presentation of the watch became an incident between two sides as many Paneristi.com members stated their concerns about the usage of the word “Paneristi” without permission of the web site along with the upsetting fact of offering the watch to everyone instead of Paneristi.com members only.

This unpleasant situation made some fellow members of Paneristi.com sign off the web site's membership and even sell their Panerai collection. Against all odds, the production of PAM532 got completed."

that is not correct, maybe there was one idiot who made this decision, but that was not the trigger why a lot of collectors stopped following Panerai

Besides, 'Paneristi' is not trademarked so why should they ask a few moderators on one website if they can use that word.
How many people read Paneristi.com nowadays? a few hundred ? And they sell 65.000 or so watches per year. That TINY group isn't interesting anymore

Paneristi is A LOT MORE that paneristi.com

360 was indeed controversial but imo not one of the best ever made, not even close. I would say a 372 is the best
Stop looking at these overhyped limited editions

I fact I had quite a lot of these LE and also the 360 but I sold them

They lost quite a few longtime collectors ( me too) because they made way too many LE
NOTHING is imo special anymore, if you can't get a LE, wait 3 years and they will make something similar

Think about the bronze, all the california dials, the Mare nostrum , ...

When I was a Panerai collector these things were unacceptable

I think you could substitute the name PANERI with OMEGA! The LE's of the Speedmaster can't be followed without a 10 page program!

I'm guessing that some of the watchmakers are having difficulties maintaining market share with their "standard" issues; viola, they roll out new "limited editions" to get the market hype and increase the unit prices....

In the process, they have alienated the core of their collectors, and their problems continue to put pressure their bottom lines...

Break out the popcorn and enjoy the show....

T4S!

I wish I had been around for the 195 - it's the ultimate Paneristi tribute, hard to beat. The "BBQ" is runner up, but I like regular lume as well as sub-secs.

I was in NY for the unveiling of the 634...
...all I can say is that I'm hoping for better in 2020...!
