There is a (aged) mismatch between the hands and the dial. That is however quite normal - and much better than "hands have been painted to color match the dial".

Except for that; cool watch. :)

Looks like the watch from European Watch Co? Is it the picture angle or does the bottom crown lug look thinner? Overall a clean looking 16750.

@RolexRolex according to the seller the dial has not been refreshed.

@loevhagen spoke to seller and seller guarantees all parts are OEM and claims this watch has not been used in its life as it should be. meaning its been taken care of. I do see your point now and took notice of the hands being not matching to the dial. Would this be a turn off?

Thank you guys for shedding your feedback and observations. I appreciate it, especially for someone who is not experience with circa vintage rolex. I understand as well that the bezel is a replacement. I would need to find a faded one in great condition to swap. I was a able to agree with the seller on lower $6K for it it has no P&B. Over all, would you recommend to go for it? I have been hunting for a birth year GMT watch 1981 in great condition. Shall I back out due to what you have mentioned?

I was going to say - "the red is too red", so a more faded one would look better.

backed out on the deal sadly. The markers and hands do not match. Seller was trying to convince me that markers and hands don't necessarly patina together the same color as they are "different parts" I may be a newbie to vintage watches but won't buy for a second that hands and markers from the same year/era won't patina simultaneously. All the research Ive done and I've seen hands and markers patina the same. Plus the bezel is a serviced bezel from RSC which I am not a fan of either as it does not match the watch.

The HUNT for a GMT 1981 is still ongoing. If anyone knows of a good 1981 GMT PM please!

Joey, I've seen original dials and hands,that have slight inconsistency in patina between the dial and hands.The dial and hands may have been lumped by different suppliers using different tritium compounds, such as binder, making them darken slightly different.
It is completely up to you to deside, but, that watch you're looking at, meets my criteria for a desirable example.Great condition of the metal, clean dial and hands.Im sure with a bit of patience, you'll find another original, clean example.

Thank you. I agree with you the watch has an amazing condition of metal. Somehow the excitement started fading away after carefully examining it:

- Patina not matching on hands and markers. It is important to me that they do. This would we a perfect example now only if Jacek would discount the price :) https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...light=GMT+1981

- I was going to over look the patina part but the bezel was not growing on me. Watch being 34 years old but with a bezel thats spanking new was not going to like it. It would have given me the itch.

- Have my doubts that the date wheel have been changed and updated. Numbers are slightly thinner than others I've seen from the era

If I would have gotten the watch and swapped the bezel and hands, this would have cost me a lot as well. Id rather find it all in one.

Just need to keep looking Mitch. Pls tell me I'll come across THE ONE

Now, only you will know what you want and what sings to you.
I'd personally, look for the best possible condition watch I can get at reasonable price....gotta consider both aspects,right.
As for the bezel, yeah, it's the newer one, for sure, older beat up, faded bezel inserts can be bought and installed by you in a matter of seconds.Of course dials and hands can be sourced,adding cost of course,but you can also sell the dials,hands, inserts, etc that you don't want.
That's the beauty of this hobby, the true pleasure of it is in the hunt.
