Black Bay Black Accuracy

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have several Rolex watches. Happy with all of them. Inspired by the posts on this forum and by new products coming out from Tudor, I bought a BBB just before Christmas. I really like it.

Three weeks, I noticed that the watch is losing about 30 seconds a day. Off to Makati RSC it goes. About 10 days later I got it back. I still see it loses about 15 seconds a day.

I wear the watch 24/7. Is this normal performance? What is your experience with Black Bay? Should I bring it back to RSC?

Mine is fast by about 10 seconds a day if I leave it face up overnight. However, unlike my rolexes I find it is much more responsive to self-regulation and I am normally able to slow it down in different resting positions.

Mine gains around 2 seconds a day considering I leave it face up overnight I am happy with that.

Mine ran +7 when I first purchased, but has settled in to +2. Good luck with yours.

Black, red, blue, all have the same movement. Mine is plus/minus about one second a day depending on overnight position, so I can keep it more or less dead on for months at a time, till it stops from not being worn. Had it regulated by RSC.

I had a Black Bay for six months and it averaged +2 seconds per day over that time period. I sold it to help finance my Explorer but intend to purchase the Black later on this year.

Mine is +5 seconds a day, does anyone know what overnight resting position does what?
(eg, face up +3 seconds, face down -3 seconds)

Mine hang out on a winder (all my automatics) and get reset when I choose to wear them (monthly?). They are seldom off more than a minute or two and accurate enough while they're on my wrist not to cause me any issue with lateness or earliness. My first Rolex had me obsessed with it's running 11 secs. slow per day. It was under warranty and I sent if in for adjustment. I came back well with in COSC limits. Shipping cost me $75; hardly worth the change or charge. Unless a watch is running so bad that it cause me an issue with attendance, in the future there is nothing I'll do to fix a problem caused my obsessiveness alone.

A week old BB Blue owner here. -3 during daytime. +3 overnight (face down) which equals out dead on for last 7 days without fail. It's amazing. Yes this 2824 movement seems more responsive in resting position overnights than my other watches. But I would take this all day as long as it does it in a regular basis.

This is old info from Rolex but should still work for your BB.

thanks for all the comments. I will monitor the performance for a week or two and then will decide whether to take it back to RSC for further regulation.

Keep in mind that these Tudors are not chronometers, and are not advertised as such.

Not certified chronometers, but two of my three Tudors are better timekeepers than any of my several Rolex chronometers.

I recently purchased a BBN (month ago) and when I first had it would go about 2-3 seconds fast. I decided to leave it overnight with the crown up and now I'm losing about 5 seconds a day. I've been leaving it facing up the last couple of nights but it doesn't really seem to be doing anything.

Does anyone know at time loss does the warranty cover a calibration?

I would hope so but you might give the RSC a call and explain the situation. I had an Explorer II which was -2s/d and they regulated it under warranty.

Yes, in fact RSC regulated my BB for free outside warranty when it was about 8 secs a day fast.

Mine runs +4 seconds a day consistently since purchase in November.

-4 to -5 sec a day loss on mine to atomic clock its pretty good with an average of 4.4 sec a day lost over a month of tracking
My cell phone clock is 5 sec behind atomic so if I time the blackbay to my cell its spot on +0-0 sec a day he he
Mine will not respond to self regulation through different resting positions ,well it will get slower depending on position,but it will not speed up and I think this is normal.I leave it dial up on a night stand

I wouldn't be surprised if the Tudors are regulated a bit differently than Rolex and the positional information is different than above. But you can always test positions yourself to fine tune your own approach!

I'm waiting to hear back from my AD but if he doesn't respond I'll just contact the RSC in San Francisco.

As long as I have proof of purchase and the warranty card I don't need to go through the AD correct?

I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

I was told by my AD/ Tudor rep that the eta movement in the BB is expected to stay in the -10/+10 range. Basically he said that if it falls between that +/- that the warranty won't cover the regulation.

I'm just going to wait a couple of months and if it doesn't improve I'll give a call to RSC to get it regulated out of pocket.

Actually that positioning info above is decades old, and applies more these days to ETA than modern Rolex movements, which are much less sensitive.

Rolex paperwork still sometimes uses that name, as someone here pointed out the other day.
