I recently purchased my first rolex (Sub LV) late December. Essentially, I have worn it non-stop since then. When I first obtained the watch it would consistently be +2 daily. I reset the watch early last week (when it was fast). Since then its been -1 daily consistently. Nothing has changed regarding the surrounding temperature + no self-regulating attempts have been made.

My questions are

1. Does self-regulating (overnight) have effects that carry over for just 24 hours or do they last for awhile?

2. Any ideas how I went from +2 to (-3) essentially? Or is that within the -4 + 6 guidelines and that is normal? Is it possible that I'll end up speeding back up?

3. What's a better judge of accuracy? watch time over 1 week, 1 month, 1 YEAR?

4. Should I not care?? The watch is beautiful and as I learn more about the engineering it continues to amaze.

You shouldn't care. It's within spec. If you want to be more accurate in your OCD, compare drift from month to month.

You need to do the self regulation daily. It just counteracts what it did that day.

Are you winding it once a week? If not, 40 full turns once a week keeps it happy.

Minus 1 is great. You should be well pleased with that.

Check the minutes of drift at the same time one day each month. If it's consistent, revel in the glory of mechanical timekeeping.

Anything within -4 / +6 seconds per day is considered within COSC specs among the watch community (in reality, the COSC spec involves switching watch position various times within the 24 hour window, which assume little people would actually do.

Automatic watches have a tendency to "settle in". Nothing to worry about IMO. Congrats on a great watch... Enjoy

Winding? I wear mine daily and honestly don't think I have ever wound it manually. Adjusted the date and correct the time, sure. Adjusted the hour for time zone/GMT for longer trips, sure. Wound it manually...nope.
