We just had a baby girl and I want to present my wife a Rolex.
I know she likes 36mm Datejust, two-tone Jubilee bracelet. Diamond dial and bezel. I just cannot decide on the color of the dial: White Silver Mother-of-pearl Champagne Please help me chose :) white.jpg silver.jpg mother-of-pearl.jpg champagne.jpg |

IMHO, White is simple. Silver and champagne are classic. MOP is a bit busy.

I have been married for almost 45 years and assumed I knew my wife backwards. A couple of weeks ago I took her to London so as she could chose any Rolex she wanted. I expected her to chose a rose gold 26mm Datejust because she often mentioned it. However after 30 mins of sifting through a load of watches, she, much to my surprise, selected a 31mm solid gold diamond dial Datejust. It was a good job I did not chose for her. Let her chose, she will enjoy the shopping experience (all women enjoy retail therapy) and then treat her to a decent lunch. It will be the perfect day for her. Regards Mick |

I agree with Mick, this really needs to be right the first time, let her choose. Even if you have to be secretive about it, go watch shopping for yourself, bring her along and steer her to the ladies section on the premise that maybe someday you'll buy her a Rolex, let her choose.

First of all, congrats!
Only she can I'm afraid... Although I also presented my wife with a DJ recently, I had to follow her VERY specific requirements which, surprisingly enough, were quite different from what I had in mind. You might lose the element of surprise but at least you ensure everything will be to her ultimate satisfaction. That's all what matters... |

Take her to an AD and make a day of it!
I took my fiancé to our local AD on the weekend and I was surprised by what she liked .... Not what I would've thought at all. Best to let her choose IMO |

Based on past experience....only ask her. Made the mistake of thinking I could figure it out on my own and....swing and a miss. Luckily I showed it to her before actually buying, but I put allot of time and effort into narrowing it down and thinking it was the one.

Mop but I would recommend it with the oyster bracelet if it will be her daily wearer. My wife never takes her watch off and her first jubilee 26mm DJ links were all over the place in a couple of years, replaced the whole watch with another on an oyster and it still feels new after 8 years.

Pretty interesting timing as I started researching these last night as my sister and I are planning on surprising our mom with one. I've seen the silver dial in person and it's really sharp. We are looking at a two tone yellow gold fluted bezel with diamond dial. The MOP dial is a bit pricey for what you get I think.
Congrats on the new baby! |

X2 on the advice above. I had my AD set a few aside and we went for a nice lunch and tried them on. She chose one that I did not consider. She is 100% happy and got what she wanted. Very easy, no pressure.

Congratulations! You are headed into more wonderful years of your life....
Why don't you present her with a bouquet of her favorite flower/s and explain in a special greeting card that a Rolex watch is coming her way but that you want her to choose it for herself. Of course, dinner and champagne make it all memorable. I agree with calling the Rolex outlet ahead of time. And of course, then she would have the excitement of looking at the watches on rolex.com for ideas and the outlet's catalogs if you have to order. Blessings!! DM |

MOP diamond. Also make sure you get the modern bracelet with the hidden clasp.
