Closed 6 but open 9?
I just got my first Rolex a few days ago. I am completely happy with it. Had it pressure tested and authenticated with my local watch guy. He actually tried to talk me out of it. It's a Transitional Submariner 168000 with M5 on the clasp. So here is my question..... I was looking at the Date Wheel and noticed that the 6th is closed. All the other 6s and 9s are open (even the 26th). Does this mean that the date wheel has been replaced? Could it be original? i haven't been able to find a picture of another like it through google.

A good question to ask yourself is "why did the guy that authenticated it try to talk me out of this?"

only issues are that the pearl is cracked and I need to replace on of the end links. I'd love to post up some pictures but seems I need to find somewhere to upload them first to link them here. (wonder why I can't just upload here.....) |

Mine are all open (including the 26) except the 6th. I see where springer says that its normal but I can't find any examples online of where this is the case other than mine. |

Still trying to figure out how to post up a picture. All my cloud services are private so that would t work.
Speaking of pictures I still can't find another example of the date wheel I have. Googled replacement wheels and either all are open except the 26 or none are. If anyone else has this weird set up I'd love to know about it. |

A rare an underappreciated piece.
I don't have a definitive answer on the date wheel but the fonts shown in your pictures certainly look like Rolex to me... Enjoy it! |

Great looking watch! I wouldn't worry about the bezel pearl. Chances are it would be tough to find one that matches that well. As for the end link, if it's bent a bit, you can remove the bracelet and pry the end link apart a bit. Cheers and congrats again!!

Rather than pry, use a pen with a plastic barrel and press it in gently to open it up. Then there are no scratches.
