My first visit to Hong Kong
As soon as I walked into the baggage claim area the Rolex presence was apparent.
Also, it appears that there are about 4 Rolex shops on each block near my hotel. Go figure. Anyone from TRF from Hong Kong? PS the pictures look much better on the phone itself. |

Plenty of good watch stores near Time Square. You're in Causeway Bay then.
There's a huge Audemars Piguet display on the corner near Times Square. Some nice pieces there, I think the AD is called Prince if I remember correctly. If you get a chance, head over to Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sa Tsui. Lots of nice boutiques in there. For good vintage oggling, go to the Holiday Inn Golden Mile, also in TST on Nathan Road. The basement is where all the action is.... watch-wise... nice bars in the vicinity too, at One Peking Road... top floor, sensational view, it's called Aqua. Now get offline and go shopping!!! |

Hi Jigga,
How was your HK trip? I really like the food and shopping and i'm there about twice a year. Rolex and Tudor watches are a common sight there. If u r into Rolex shopping, u can drop by Chow Tai Fook (AD). There are also non-ADs selling Rolexes. Here's my last trip report ... http://watchtalkworld.proboards84.co...lay&thread=666 |

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the shops at the basement of Holiday Inn Golden Mile are not ADs and so be extremely careful of what you're actually buying...

Here......I am from Hong Kong. The exact location is not important. Rolex AD is almost everywhere in busy area of Hong Kong
The best way for visitor to check the real AD in Hong Kong.....is.......ar....go back to Jigga's pics.......... see the long one.....actually, Jigga is posting two pics. the right half is just a zoon in of the left one. Pay attention to the left half.........find out the blue logo at the left bottom corner of the logo Do you see a Rolex lantern with green "Rolex"??? That's it....that lantern is the identity to check the real AD. Hope you all understand. |

Well, that is because Rolex makes close to 900,000 watches a year. 800,000 to sell in Hong Kong, where just about everybody either owns a real or a fake Rolex, and 100,000 to sell througout the rest of the world! LOL But is true!
Reminds me of a dinner I went to in Hong Kong 2 years ago with my fellow classmates. About 10 of us showed up for the dinner, and 6 were wearing a Rolex!!! And our Teacher who was at the dinner was wearing a Casio, but I know he owns a Datejust as well! LOL LOL |

I never said they are ADs, I said it's a good place to go oggle some vintage watches as that is all they sell there. ADs don't genenrally sell vintage watches.

Just wondering, how have you found the prices compared to AD's in the US? What about selection of desirable models?

It is the best place to change your foreign currency to HK$ where you get even better deals than the banks. This mansion is in the heart of Hong Kong's main shopping centre on Nathan Road and is not dangerous at all. JJ

Actually Chunking Mansions is not that safe, unless you confine yourself to the first floor for shopping during the day. Lot of illegal activity going on there. Big time Nepalli Prositute operation (think HIV/AIDS !), fake goods being sold and what ever you do, do not get a cheap room upstairs - major fire hazard. It is kind of cool to go over there in the evenings though and stand outside and watch every night the HK police pull out and arrest a few illegals. Can get some cheap INdian curries there though, that is if you like being sick the next couple of days!

New Henry House on Ice House Street in Central. It's a couple of stops from Causeway Bay just down from Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank.
