I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Don't imagine they'd hold their value like Rolex but if I buy a watch its for life so that's not a consideration for me.

Good luck.

I think of iwc more as chaotic neutral.

The new for 2015 portugieser has a nice movement, an improvement on the older ones.

I have one IWC pilot. If my watches, feels most comfortable/best on wrist. Dimensions, feel and balance are outstanding.

I was recently introduced to the brand. Picked up the Mark XVII on a whim thanks to a killer sale (see pic below). It's a great watch. The quality is fantastic and the modified ETA movement is rock solid.

I've had an aquatimer (3719 chrono) since 2010ish I've never had an issue with it. Keeps time within a couple seconds per day. It was my first "nice" watch, I wore it everyday doing everything for two years or more, then when I got a sub my dad wore it for another two, then I took it back.

Not good; they're GREAT!

Eta movements for the most part (maybe some very recent changes to that- not sure). Very solid, well-engineered pieces. No real 'bling' to speak of. Next to Sinn, I think IWC is one of the better modern 'tool' watch makers.

Get one pre-loved for best value. After the initial drop in price they seem to hold steady. Or just enjoy it and don't worry about "resale value" and "Collector concerns" for a while.

I have the IWC Big Pilots Crono Top Gun Miramar edition. It's the older 3880-02 model with IWC's in house movement.

Basically you pay for the movement. The watch doesn't really look like a 10K watch which is why I like it. It is big tho.

The New Top Gun Miramar for 2016 is smaller and uses the ETA based movement and is listed as half the price of the 3880-02.

I looked at the new release models and there's some good stuff there. These new models should be coming to ADs shortly.

The new Miramar Big Pilot and Top Gun retain IWC's in-house movement. No ETA. The standard mark comes now in miramar guise with a modified ETA movement like the rest of the standard models.

There was an issue with the chrono movement in the spitfire and chrono classic. The flyback freezing the movement. Not sure if IWC fixed it. I'd play with the chrono a bit and see how it's working.

The only bad things I've heard about IWC was with their warranty and servicing. Other than that, I think they make some good pieces. I would agree that buying them pre-owned is the way to go as they take a pretty big hit on resale.

I have 3: Chronoflieger, Portuguese, Mark 18. They are great men's sports watches! I would not hesitate to buy one or own one. The prices have crept up, so buying used may not be a bad idea.

Not my tastes in terms of design but great watches for sure, and as resale goes it's not so awful as other IWC models for the Pilot ones, just try to get the best price or preowned and you should't loose a ton like with their other models...

Very good watches. I had my reservations till I bought a Portuguese chronograph. It is a stunning design. Most non watch people find it the best looking nice watch that I have. It keeps time to +/- 1 -2 a day! Better than any of my other watches.
So yes IWC is good.

Some models are not for me but I have to say they have some of the most masculine looking models there.
