IMO the RSC in Australia is not liberal in the least and would probably return it to the AD untouched.

That's a pretty old watch! I would assume late 80's? Not a good deal plus aftermarket parts! imho. You could get a better deal in the for sale section in this forum! I saw a similar one, newer, all original with factory diamond dial w/ papers for the same price! Good luck though!

If the RSC was directly owned by Rolex, it maynot service it.

I do not believe that that is a good price for a DJ with both an aftermarket bracelet and dial.. However, I am not that familiar with the Australian market or the quality of the aftermarket bracelet..
My guess is that if you put a decent leather strap on your DJ, then the RSC would service it and put in a new dial if you requested. They might even put on a new bracelet if you pay the costs - after all, who is going to restore it to Rolex standards if Rolex won't.

thnks for the replies.
i was thinking along the lines of that too, tools... put on a strap and get a spare dial from somewhere that i wouldn't mind losing or an original one that wouldnt get noticed, then swap back after service. btw, when i say 2500 US, i mean 2500 AUD, but the price of the USD is so low, its almost similiar to the AUD... if i send it to an RSC as is (with aftermarket bracelet and dial) will the RSC confiscate, force me too change parts, refuse to service and return it, or just service anyways with no repercussions? anybody have experience? also, i guess this forum is a little bias, but since i have some of your attention, :p which would you choose, as a brand, based on percieved quality, real quality, servicability and value for money... rolex, JLC, panerai, glashutte... thanks again |
