Advice about payment.

I listed a 6542 GMT yesterday on VRF and had over a dozen inquiries in a few hours. I specified a face to face cash sale but many of the prospects are located outside the US. Several said they had friends in the US that they would contact, but then ask "how do you want to be paid?" They offer payment by wire transfer. They ask this after I have said, face to face cash sale. What are some of the things I should look out for? I'm not a dealer or collector so I have had absolutely no experience listing online. In an earlier post I noted that I joined the forum solely to sell my Rolex. Almost all ask about the dial. None ask about the movement or other features. Is the dial the most valuable part, other than the bezel and insert of course? Your thoughts on what to beware of.

I just don't trust shipping out of the country too risky. Meet the buyer or the friends of the buyer in the lobby of your local Police department. If the buyer or said friends are clean then they will have no issue of bringing cash money to pay for the sale. Remember if they can get a check they can get cash.

most of your potential buyers will not be close enough to a cash face to face deal.
just accept a wire transfer from bank to bank.once it shows up in your bank it takes 24 hours to be completely transfered so wait to ship until say 48 hours after they send it.
also specify in an email that they will accept all responsibility for the watch being lost or damaged in transit since they are choosing to have it sent via mail.also if possible send it registered.
about the value, yes most of the value is in the dial,I have seen a 6542 go for 8k because the dial was not original-at the same time I have seen one go for 22k with a good dial.
how much are you asking?I might be interested and I can drive up.
pm me.
thanks,
steve
p.s. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST USING PAYPAL UNLESS IT IS A VERY TRUSTED SOURCE! I have heard horror stories about people getting ripped off thru paypal for large sums of money thru them.
