Rolex GMT Master 11- Should I do it?
Hi Guys,
Im in the Market for my first ever watch. I have gone to an AD and agreed on a price for the watch, i just need some re assurance that the deal is solid. http://www.thewatchgallery.com.au/pr...th-box-papers/ We have agreed on a price of 6800 US for the GMT11 2010 ceramic bezel. I have been reading the threads and am very impressed with the feedback on this forum. Please put my mind at ease haha Also, are there any questions you guys make sure to ask before you buy a watch? Thank you |

Wow! that was exactly the same price I paid for my GMT in 2010. What a coincidence. Let me check if I still have it on my wrist. yep, still there

Way too high. You could get a BNIB one for a few hundred more. A 2010 is almost due for service.

You are going to pay a premium for a local watch. Everyone is going to compare against the US market but that is not entirely fair.
This watch is right here and right now with no import taxes. I would try to get it a little cheaper but I would be too focussed on US prices. |

If you are comfortable with the seller and like the watch I would go forward with the deal. Could you get a better price, yes. But not by much. I think you are getting a fair deal. Not a good deal and definitely not a great deal. Your selection of a watch is good and in a flip or sell look at a 10-20% reduction on what you paid. Keep it long enough and you can break even or make a little.

Since the watch is probably due for a general service, I'd ask the seller to cover the cost of the service and specify the service has to be done by Rolex and not by just anyone. You would be getting a "like new" watch and know it's in excellent shape. The seller might say no, but you don't lose anything by asking. If he says no, I'd probably keep shopping.

Since you and the dealer have already agreed upon the price, there is little we can help you with at this point.
Lesson learned, ask us first next time before you strike the deal. For what it's worth, I agree with William above...fair deal. |

It's definitely high for a GMT II, though if it's really an '11', it's a steal; that'll be worth money for years!

Like many others have said, it's a little high, but not by a ton.
