Nice, classy and insightful reply to a pretty klassless near-trolling start to this thread. Nice one, Sam, thanks.

I will say that it looks much better in person and in personal pictures than the advertisement photos made it look. But for me this is the case with most models.

it is definitely outside the norm from what I'd expect from Rolex' designs but that isn't necessarily a bad thing I don't think...the proportions of the text are a bit strange to my eyes for some reason....having Air King below instead of above maybe? I would like to see it in person...is it 39mm?

I agree. Definitely need some time on the wrist to make a true decision. I like the new AK more and more every time I see it. Great photos by the way. Cheers.

Also... With the heft and magnetic shielding in the case it would make a good alternative to the Milgauss... For less money?

A little while ago there was a thread blasting the appearance of the new Air King, and at first I wasn't that fond of it either. But it grows on one. Now I want one!

I've got to disagree. I don't find it awkward, absurd, or even remotely childish.

And if I did I would try to find words to better express my opinions and not offend my brothers on TRF who might own, or be interested in owning, one.

I love the big crown, I can't help but feel that the 5 should be an 05, and I think the green should be a touch darker (but then I think that most of Rolex's attempts at colour slightly miss the mark).

I bought a new Air King two months ago and am very pleased with it. I do not think the dial looks "childish" or particularly cluttered. I have grown very fond of this watch to the extent that I wear it most of the time while my other Rolex's remain at home. It's a Rolex that doesn't scream Rolex. My example has thus far proven to be the most accurate Rolex I own with a variation of less than 1 sec/day.

It's all in the eyes of the beholder. To me the YM1 looks like an over-dressed Submariner.

it's unique in its own way, design is solid albeit very particular to appeal to the masses

I disagree with many of the design decisions Rolex made with the new AirKing, but that's why I didn't buy one and won't ever buy one. Doesn't mean it's forced or childish

I had the opportunity to try one of these on today and really liked it. The dial works better on the wrist and the overall package is well balanced. If you can buy one at RRP then they are reasonably good value (in the context of the madness that is Rolex pricing ).

When I first saw it at baselworld I was unsure As soon as I tried it at the AD I was 100% sure. I understand it's not the norm for Rolex but for me thats the attraction it's just so not Rolex Try it and see
