Rolex 16700 advice please
Hello all,
I have an opportunity to trade some pieces for a 16700 and finally experience my first Rolex. The watch has recently returned from service. I took some pictures of the lugs, case crown guards etc and I would really appreciate any comments or opinions. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hands and 24 hour hand have different patina then the dial lume markers. That would bother me but some others probably wouldn't care.

Thanks for that. I have noticed and the seller has been very upfront about that. These are replacement tritium ones that have not patinated in the same way. I am mostly concern about the case state polishing wise etc. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks like a nice watch. I see no issues other than the replacement hands which would not be a show stopper for me. I'd remove that sticker from the back, fwiw. That would bother me and it would definitely come off before the watch went on my wrist.
I love the 16700 as the last of the original GMTs; it provides me with just the perfect amount of information regarding time zones for travel. Look forward to the variations you can have with the watch. |

Rolex 16700 advice please

Hello, Yours is very nice indeed. The hands are not a show stopper for me either. I am mostly concerned about the state of the upper right hand side lugg. The spring bar seems almost flush with the case which is not the same as the lower one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hands would be a deal breaker for me unless the seller had the originals.

I'm not an authority on vintage Rolexes, but those lugs seem over-polished. Nothing to worry about from a function standpoint...just aesthetic.
As long as the seller is pricing it accordingly and you want it, I'd say go for it. If seller is asking as much as an untouched vintage piece then I'd look for something else. If you just want a nice Rolex to wear and enjoy and aren't planning to start a vintage collection then it might be the perfect piece.

Unless the price is real low, and you really want it, I would pass. I would rather go for a 16710. A lot more of them in better conditions.

I agree with what the other members have said, in addition I'm not sure if the following mark on the hour hand is lighting, a fiber or possible damage from the back end of the second hand rubbing as it's rotating? Good luck.

Would agree - the 16700 is right up there with the 16710. Not really a great deal of difference other than the quick set date v independent hand - really just down to personal preference - both super watches! |

Unless it is penny cheap, I would save your money and get a good example. You say it is just back from a service? Looks like it was done at a local fabricating shop. Pass

I agree with steve.r. I'm not certain what the lugs looked like originally on that reference for that serial, but I'm guessing the edges weren't nearly that rounded off. The case looks pretty rough, in my opinion. Unless you're getting a super great deal on it, I would hold out for a better example.
