116500 vs pam560
Hi everyone,
After some help here as I am in serious deliberation between the Daytona 116500 and panerai pam560. Panerai is a brand I first tried on 12months ago and have been researching and learning about ever since. I love the size and simplicity of the pam560, and the strap variations are great. Plus this would be my first panerai. As for the Daytona ceramic, speaks for itself really on this board. I have had my name down on it since its release, I'm in the U.K. And stock has been so limited. Do I jump ship for a change and get a panerai or hold it out and wait for the Daytona? My AD is extremely hopeful of my Daytona before the end of the year. Anyone purchased a panerai over rolex? And panerai owners how do you find he watches in general wear? Many thanks in advance.

I would wait it out for the Daytona. The pam is very nice but the Daytona is the hot topic.

Depends on what you will be using the watch for. I own both brands and enjoy both for different occasions. What is your lifestyle like? Most here will say Daytona which is expected but I find panerai to be a nice change every once in a while.

I wear both brands, and in general, have a touch more love for a panerai on my wrist. It's got this bold, masculine simplicity to it that stands out and makes a statement, without bein as blingy or recognizable as a Rolex. Having said that, there are occasions where rolex's fit perfectly under a cuff and you forget it's even there, and is very reliable, comfortable, and beautiful. Either way you win. I will go against the grain and say that the panerai may take the cake.

Wait for the Daytona IMHO - if you like PAM I would maybe go for the ceramic black seal 8-days (I believe it's 8-days anyway).

Get the 560 now and save up for the Daytona. Its too hot now and I wouldn't want to pay the premium for it now :)

I've always like Panerai and tried some on at the weekend as I was thinking about a cheeky treat, but compared to my 116600 and 116500, they were underwhelming.
No brainer for me. Wait for the Daytona.

Wow, two very very different watches....I love both brands, so, I'll give it a go:
You could consider getting your Panerai fix now with a LNIB 000, 005 or 111 and then either flip for the Daytona (you won't lose much if anything) or just add the Daytona (since you won't have spent too much on the Panerai). |

You've got a great collection as it stands. I think I would wait at least until the end of the year and see if one will come in so you could do a back to back comparison. If it goes much past that...well then, you could give the PAM a shot.
Two totally different watches. |

I say wait on the Daytona. I love the simplicity of Panerai and have considered buying one for years, but a 116500 at MSRP is a lot tougher to come by than a PAM 560 IMHO.

I have a 320 and a SubC. Loving both. One thing to consider with the 560. It doesn't appear to have the quick change capability for the straps? Might make accessorising painful.
At the end of the day, I'd lean toward the Daytona. ;) |

I have slightly older versions of both. I'd pick the Daytona, without question. It's more accurate, more reliable, more useful, and when it's time for service, Rolex service is usually better than Panerai service. The only place the Panerai is better is lume. You can quite literally read by it at night.

Automatic vs Manual winding.
That's what you need to decide. And since this is your first Panerai, the 8 days power reserve is a good start as you only need to wind it once a week. And also what's your current rotations? Like most here said, don't settle, you have waited this long, what's few more months? And further more, if you decided you don't fancy the Daytona, you can flip it and get the 560 plus some dough. Can't say you are able to do that with a Panerai. You be taking a huge hit if you decided to flip the Panerai for the Daytona. |

Thankyou for all your replies, some great info in there regarding the panerai. I'm now thinking that the pam320 is also a great option.
I just don't know if I want another oyster bracelet, I think the thought of strapping something on from panerai sounds extremely appealing, and will be able to have a huge array of straps to change at ease.

I wear a Pam as my daily watch and love the comfort of it, but no comparison IMHO to Daytona of any variety, especially the new C version. I vote Daytona C.
