Omega Seamaster 300GMT or a used Panerai?

Hey Fellas,

I've been eye-ing the 300GMT for quite some time now and have been putting some money away on the side for one. I was planning on making the purchase through watchuseek's forum AD which saves me considerably.

Now, I just began looking at the Panerais and have been very intrigued. They are rather large at 44mm and is borderline on my wrist, but they still look very cool and are quite a bit different from the watches I have now.

I have a Rolex Sub Date and a Tag Monaco ala Mcqueen in blue with croc band. Lately, I've been smitten with the band...

So, a brand new 300GMT or spend quite a bit more on a pre-owned Panerai?

Since you already have a sub-date I would say Pam hands down.

Not really fair for me to comment as I'm totally smitten with the Omega.
You can pick up a second hand Panerai at any time, but you might have more trouble getting the 300GMT.

sorry Mik, but i dont think one should buy a watch for it to hold value...one should buy it, as everyone says here, "if it smiles at him" :D..so Joey, buy what you want to..I know people that have dozens of similar type of watches, like lots of divers or all chronos and so on...thats cuz they like them ..so dont bother about what you have or anything...buy what you want cuz in the end, thats what will make you happy :)..and do post lots and lots of pics of what you buy ;)

I'm also seriously looking into the Omega GMT. I like the style, which is sporty. And you can't beat the price. So my vote goes to Omega.

Panerai makes great watches too but they're too big, in my opinion.

Joey, if there was one Omega I would recommend it would be the GMT. It is such a cool watch in many ways, I think that it is a 'must have'.

However, Panerai is definitely a worthy brand, unless there is a particular model that really shines out at you more than the Omega GMT, I would get the Omega GMT first.

FWIW I got the Omega GMT before I got a Panerai, and enjoy both.
