COmments on a DOXA?
A friend of mine just picked up a DOXA sharkhunter. Nice looking watch. Feels pretty solid and i like the bracelet. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with these watches?

Hi Philip,
A big welcome to TRF. Hope you enjoy your stay here. Don't know much about DOXA except that that watch is associated with the colour orange. While most of us have no problem with ORANGE, there is one particular person (I'm too scared to even mention his name ) who goes absolutely ballistic when he sees that colour and starts to ban people. He's tried to ban me a million times in the past, but I'm so bloody thick-skinned and ban proof that he's given up trying!! Welcome to this nuthouse, Philip. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay here. Cheers - JJ

Phillip, welcome to TRF, glad to have you here.
Doxa makes some really cool dive watches that have been used and abused by some famous divers, most notably Cousteau. They seem to offer fairly good bang for the buck and also make a nice statement on the wrist.

Fabulous dive watches that are seen as the 'must have' among true divers. It was good enough for Jacques Cousteau (he wore the Sharkhunter).
Doxa was also the company that invented the helium escape valve on a watch, I believe. Best bang for buck for a serious dive watch. Retro looks are back again. |

Yes they make great real divers tool watches, quite a old company in the word of horology started 1889.The 300T and 600T are there most famous divers.Claude Wesly tested the first Doxa Helium valve divers watch on a trip to my favourite diving place the Red Sea.And around the same time Rolex was working on their own helium valve for the SD.Both companies had a good relationship and they shared the patent.Doxa released the first helium valve in 1969,Rolex followed in 1971.I have owned several Doxa watches, great build quality.
