I LOVE This Watch!
OK. So I picked this up a few days ago. (Thanks, David, my friend.)
This is a strange choice for me. Yes, a few of my friends may be scratching their heads at this one. When it was first unveiled at Basel this year, my initial thought was...meh. Another DJ, just what we need. And it's the same size as the DJ2? I, like a lot of others, was thinking that the new DJ would follow suit with what happened to the DD2 down to 40mm, but...not to be. Huh. Well, so fast forward a bit and I'm at the AD trying on watches. She says, "you've got to give this one a try, Larry." I think, why not, and slip it on. I was mesmerized instantly. Hit me like a ton of bricks. Trust me, I was NOT there to buy anything, much less a "new and improved" DJ...but man, it was all I could think about. So it had to join my group of watches that I call my collection. So, for all you people like me that were thinking, "meh", here's a few of my thoughts: The Dial: I hadn't even realized when I saw the Basel release that Rolex had subtly re-worked the stick dial. (And I'm a huge stick fan). The new version is a work of art. Sheer perfection. The bracelet: OK, I admit it. I have never appreciated the jubilee band. Matter of fact, you could probably say I was a hater. Go ahead, look it up, every time someone on here asked my opinion, I would 100% of the time pick the oyster bracelet over the jubilee. But, having had this a few days, the jubilee is the most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn. It feels like your wrist is draped with silk. Literally. Looking for an all day wearer? This would be it. And as a bonus, it's different from all the oysters I own. I know, a bunch of you guys don't like TT. Well, on the jubilee, with all the different edges catching the light, it breaks up the TT from the SS and becomes a better balanced product (my opinion of course). The RG even works better by being a little darker than the YG and the whole thing works. It just works. The clasp: OK, here's where I'm going to piss a bunch of you off. I would MUCH rather have the present config with easy link AND micro adjustment, even if it means losing the hidden clasp feature so many of you love. For me, it's function over form, and the comfort of this watch over the non-adjustable bands is far superior. The movement: Wow. Winding and setting this watch you know that you are working with something special. Accuracy (not that this a big deal), but for those that care about these types of things, is roughly +1 sec over a period of about 4 days. In conclusion, this is a great watch. I fell in love with the RG/Chocolate combo, but the YG versions are spectacular, too. If you're in the market for a DJ, or just looking for something and you don't quite know what it is, give this one a look. And of course, a couple of wrist shots. |

I like it a lot. Thanks so much for your thoughts on the piece. It's those kind of write-ups that help me with the thought process. (You enabler, you)
All kidding a side, Congrats Larry, it looks really great on you. Wear it in good health.

Great review. I'm also tempted by the YG version despite always saying I don't like yellow gold, don't like TT, don't like Jubilee... but, something about the DJ41 still makes me want it!

Congrats.. I also love this combo . It's a bit above my price range at the moment but it was a real standout watch for me when I saw and tried it on in the melbourne boutique a couple of months ago.. it's an absolute stunner!! Congrats

Congrats again Larry, the RG choco combo is one of Rolex's best. I was thinking of a blue SS one if released in Mar but this is the best TT for me.
