I Feel Like I'm Licked!!!

On Saturday I went to an event held at one of my local ADs (Long's in Peabody). It featured, food, drink, music, and more ways to spend money and experience savings even on watch purchases. (One I talked to received 10% off on his Omega GMT purchase for example). Met some really nice people even one who goes to the same health club and lives in the same town. Although their newly reacquired Omega line had top billing for watches they had some guest star Rolexes as well. Only tried the one on the right on. It has diamond markers so it's not the standard but a bit more at $75K. Yikes. I realized at that point that I'm licked. There's no way I can compete. It looks like I'm out of the game. FWIW, as everyone has said the weight on the wrist is amazing. It truly is as beautiful as all have said. But as I said, I'm out of the game.

You mean you can't sell your FLTR for $75K and buy the Platona?

Maybe if I sell F-250, FLTR, and Mini, my guitar collection, my wife, and a bunch of watches. It's not quite the pearl of great price for me.

I feel you buddy...but in my mind, the D500 subs (no pun intended) very nicely into that trio.

After as many years as we've been together she'll be around for a few more. Glad I don't collect wives like I do guitars and watches. She was never in any real danger, fwiw.

Awesome watches. Watch events are fun, just nice to get out and meet other watch lovers regardless of what each can afford.

I tried that exact same Platona on at a local AD. Man I was ready to sell a kidney to get it but the price...... um yea not at this point in my life lol

Thanks, buddy!!! Yes sometimes it's more about wanting what you have than having what you want.

I guess I'll just have to console myself with my latest acquisition and cry in my beer. As far as the wife is concerned she's got plenty more miles left on her before the warranty runs out.

Lee,

Hello to a fellow Bostonian.
I went to Longs in Natick before they moved. Mike is a great guy. I hear that he is up in Peabody now.

I've been wanting to head to Peabody to check out the store. That Platona may be just the reason to go. It's stunning, but man, so pricey.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

David is the guy I've gotten to know in Peabody; a really nice guy however I wish I was in more of a position to give him some good business. He very knowledgeable and has 30 years plus under his belt dealing with watches. I met the owner of Long's briefly (Bob) but didn't get a read on him other than that he was watching the event like a hawk. I'm not certain if they've rotated the Platona out of the store as it was brought in for the event.
