Rolex Explorer II

Z series vs M series.

Can someone tell which year these two series belong to and if there is any difference between the two.

Thanks

The Z series is from 2006-07 whereas the M series is 07-08 and is slowly being replaced by the 'whatever' series, I cannot remember.

M series Explorer IIs most likely contain the 3186 movement which is practically the same as the older 3185 movement except for a new balance hairspring. Also, M series have RolexRolexRolex printed on the rehaut under the crystal as do some late Z series.

Was told the 3186 movement is being used in the GMT IIc. If true, then that's another difference

The 3186 was first introduced in the GMT-IIC, specifically the Anniversary Edition. The previous GMT-II and Explorer II both used the 3185. The 3186 is a replacement for the 3185 so it makes sense that now all GMT-II's contain the 3186, so would the Explorer IIs.

And welcome to TRF, RedDevil.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Was told not all Explorer II (even though they are 'M' series) comes with 3186 movement, some still 3185. Some people are so proud to mention theirs is with 3186 movement

Would be surprised that M series still comes with 3185
