I still feel that the watch is too big and maybe that is contributed to by the differentiation in size between the watch 43mm and the width of the bracelet 20mm. Maybe if the watch wasn't so narrow, it might not feel like I have a anvil strapped to my wrist by a piece of string.

I also feel the inner bezel ring is an aesthetic drawback but this is purely personal preference and I acknowledge that it does play a functional role in the watch.

I don't wish to on your parade though
Steve,

I am already down from my DEEPSEA high yesterday and enjoying my GMT IIC even more. It's probably a good thing he wouldn't sell the DEEPSEA to me; though I probably could have resold it immediately at a substantial profit; not that I would have done that. Nonetheless, I went inside the store fully expecting to have a negative reaction to the watch; but I had the opposite result.

But guess what else I saw in other stores? Here's a sample.

And...just to remember that larger is not always better...

That sound like my kind of shop Otto

The Milgauss GV in Tokyo in March was $18,000 and now it is about US$11,500. How times change very quickly.

You are spoilt with all those fabulous shops in Japan

Steve,

In the land of YG...

Do you have an extra $131,638 USD lying around. If so, here's the gold Daytona for you!

Oops! According to the note, it's on hold for someone right now. Too late!

It's too bad this gold DJ was missing a few links in the bracelet. I couldn't shut the clasp on my wrist.

I don't think the price on this Milgauss will be coming down anytime soon!

Singapore Rolex Service Centre gives away with a service or possibly even sells these polishing cloths.

Guys in Japan love these Rolex bits and pieces and use the polishing cloths as a display aid in their display cases.

Otto,

Thanks for the timely Deepsea update. Love your avatar was that photo taken at the Lion Beer Hall in Ginza.

Hmmm Rolex and Tokyo it is awesome, we were there in April visiting dealers with names such as Satin Doll, Cheese Penne and Quarks.

Excellent post on the deep sea with great pics...

does the deep sea have a ceramic bezel like the GMT IIc?

Yes; it was taken at the Lion Beer Hall in the Ginza; an excellent location to relax after an afternoon of WIS activities.

My wife and I went to the jewelry store yesterday where I had bought her our platinum wedding bands and my SD. I wanted to shop for a gift for my wife when our first child is born in a few weeks, and the sales rep was terrific. She got my SD bracelet and ring cleaned, and then asked if I had seen the new DSSD, and I told her only pictures of it. I then asked if they already had a waiting list, and she said I would be The First One. So now I am first on the list to be called when it comes in, and I at least get to try it on, etc. I'd have to sell my SD first to buy it, and even then it's a long shot ... anyway, I cannot wait after seeing Otto's pictures and his great personal account of trying one on.

Really exciting, thanks Otto.

Did you get a chance to rotate the Deep Sea Ceramic Bezel?

If so, did it rotate in a tighter, fashion like the Sub (spring & ratchet mechanism) or in a smoother, more fluid manner like your GMT IIC (ball bearing mechanism)?

THanks!

It rotated counterclockwise in a steady clicking fashion, very smooth.

I like big watches but, I dunno that thing looks like too much... As they say "Different strokes for different folks". I think they should keep producing the SD and should have just introduced this one as the Deep Sea.

Does the Deep Sea bezel turn as smoothly as your GMT IIC ceramic bezel? Or stiffer with more resistance?

Thanks Otto. This is exciting!

It turns very smoothly (obviously not in hour increments) with a steady clicking sound.

Hi Otto, I have the opportunity to see and feel the Deepsea during my visit last week at Osaka, Japan. I have visited the RSC and asked for the address of the nearest AD which is only several blocks away and on the same street of the hotel I was stayed. I finally saw the real thing, but I cannot communicate with them as they don't know english and I don't know Japanese either. They said Deepsea will be available at winter time. Deepsea is also available to see at big Department store in Osaka. All I can get are some catalogues from second-hand shop.
Finally, I bought my Casio "http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=40794" and a new Watch magazine.
