Does anyone know what the large metal "dot" is on the back of a 324 movement?
I've always wondered what the dot is for, is it the backing of a screw that has the screw head on the dial side of the movement? Is it something else?

It is part of the crown winding mechanism, if you wind it you will see that it moves
