Bvlgari Al38g vs Submariner 14060

Hi all,

I currently have two watches: Explorer1 ref. 114270 and Bvlgari Al38g. I wear explorer1 as my daily since I mostly wear dress casual to work.

By the way, I love my exp1 since it's beautiful, yet under the radar.

I wear my bvlgari watch mostly during weekends since I don't want to wear a "filled with gold" watch at work. This watch was a gift from my older brother. He was going to sell it, but later decided to just hand it down to me. He wouldn't care if I flip this watch. Recently, I've become interested in the "real" watches and am starting to think that the bvlgari, which uses an ETA movement, is somewhat inferior to Submariner 14060. If I decide to flip bvlgari, I would probably get less than half the retail price (= ~ 4500 USD) and I will use this money + extra cash to buy a pre-owned 14060. I don't want more than two watches in my collection as of right now, so merely adding 14060 to the collection is not an option.

So my question is, if you were in my shoes, would you flip the bvlgari watch and buy sub 14060 for the weekend watch?

Please help. Thank you!

I haze zero experience with Bvlgari and though they seem to be getting serious about their watch game recently, their history is lacking and to me, that's important. I wouldn't hesitate to flip.

I'm not too fond of the images I see searching for the Bvlgari model you mentioned. I'd be much happier with the sub imho.

Only Bvlgari I liked was the one on Al Pacino in Heat.

Sub has no competition, although it might bring a problem, you might want to sell your explorer after getting the sub. Yes, it's that good.

Thank you all for helping my decision :)

I found a buyer, so I'm flipping bvlgari today!
This brings about another problem...

Should I keep both exp1(36mm) AND sub ND(14060) or should I flip exp1?
Are they redundant, if that makes any sense?

Lucky you that you found a buyer.
I would keep both the Exp and Sub. Two complete different watches and each has its own charm

I would keep both. The Exp I can be worn for dressier situations.
