First Rolex, DSSD

Hi everyone, I recently got my first Rolex, a black faced DSSD

Was hoping I could get some general tips regarding the watch such as how many times should I be winding it when it comes to a stop. How to care/clean it.

Any info/tips would greatly be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Welcome to forum, and congrats on your first Rolex!!

Typical recommended wind is 40 turns of the crown. I do 50, but don't worry, you can't overwind a modern Rolex.

Enjoy the new watch!

Congrats, the DSSD aid an amazing watch! You'll love the glide lock clasp.

Warm soapy water, and, a soft toothbrush to clean it. Make sure the crown is all the way in.

I scratched my first Rolex (SubC) up pretty badly; subsequently I got a DSSD and it looks 99% new after 1.5 years of daily wear. Some tips:

1. Don't wear it under shirt cuffs.
2. Strap it on a watch cushion and place it in a watch box/winder every night when you take it off. This prevents the bracelet metal rubbing against itself/caseback.
3. If #2 cannot be done i.e. you don't have a watch box/winder, you can use a rolled up handtowel to slot through watch bracelet (in place of a wrist) and wrap around the outside of the watch before you place it down for the night. Preferably in a place where it won't get knocked around. I used to do this and leave it in a closed drawer before I got my winder.
4. Obviously be more conscious of you left wrist now that it's got a hefty chunk of metal on it. Don't open doors with your left hand lest the door swings open from the other side... things like that.

OR, you could ignore all of the above, beat it to death and have it polished come service time. Some here are proponents of that. But these are expensive things and I like to take care of them. YMMV!

Hope that helps! I'm sure others will chime in with more.

Thanks everyone, and thank you for all the tips! I don't have a watch winder and I don't wear the watch everyday since it'd get quite beat up at work, is it bad for the watch that it always stops and I have to wind it up again?

Also how often or when is it necessary to have the watch serviced?

(super noob here, had to Google how to upload pic to forum)
