By coincidence I was watching a repeat of the final episode of the most beloved comedy in the UK, Only Fools And Horses, which had our loveable working class grafters finally make it big by discovering they had amongst all their usual junk, John Harrison's fabled lesser watch which goes on to sell for £6m at Sothebys. Great ending to a great series.

Cape Cod is awesome. My blood pressure drops 10 points when I cross the bridge. I didn't swim as much on oceanside this year. Being outclassed by a thousand lbs is disconcerting. Also fisherman eaten by fish would be somewhat humiliating. Then again, I wouldn't be around to worry about it. Fins up!

Thanks! JLC is my favorite non rolex watch. Like the sun moon combination both for its rarity and awareness of the vampire/ werewolf population.
Thanks goodness zombies are fake, totally

It wasn't a question of liking or not; more an issue of drawing a line. But, if you can drive right over it, go for it. Seems you already have. Not that I know any marines who do stuff in half measures.
I understand that you have a couple of ok watches too!
Thank you for your service

So, Joe, was there ever a couple of stainless Rolexes? I see at least one. Was that enough to send you over the edge?

At one point I had a 1680 sub & 1675 Pepsi - replacement hands, dials etc. I also had a couple of super heroes : Batman & hulk. In addition to the subc date ( which I've retained) I also had the subc as they are completely different watches. I grew the collection to include the D- blue and finally the Sd43.
At the end of the day, I decided that vintage was not for me since my knowledge of such watches could safely fit in a thimble. I also preferred watches that I could reliably go from the courthouse to the sea. And I found myself seduced by a little bling. I have one child left to educate so prudence dictated that I not simply expand into pm. The Deep Blue, SD 43, and sub c were traded to bring in the smurf and BLRO.
The smurf is in keeping with my love of subs and adds a bit of fancy. Likewise, the BLRO. The trip lock crown gives me some peace of mind using it in the water which I do on a regular basis. The subc date has sentimental value and is probably the watch which I would choose above all if need be. It is the iconic tool watch and the weight disappears on my wrist. I don't mind the weight of the pm pieces but don't place any added value upon it.
As to my other watches, I've had the JLC for quite a while and it works for work & I just enjoy it. The JD is a homage to a pocket watch. Though I like the dial and use of negative space, I'd part with it to balance the watch budget should anyone have an interest.
