I think green lettering is more fitting for Rolex anniversary model.

I doubt highly they will drop the red lettering. I think the bigger question is will they make some slight...yet distinct font change that allows us to differentiate between the first year production models...such as w/ 50th Flat Four Sub's or the way early Red Subs had Open 6's etc.?

A font change is not uncommon in practice with Rolex. A slight change in font on Rolex watch will not be perceived as a model change. A red line Sea Dweller is still perceived as the 50th ann. ed. However, a change in font color from red to white will make it a different edition of SD (simply just 43mm SD with 3235 movement).

Personally, I don't think Rolex will change the font color in a few years.

So what are they going to do ? Produce a 43mm red anniversary seadweller for the next 10 to 20 yrs doesn't that deceive the point of an anniversary watch ?

The 43mm seadweller is here to stay and the wider links balance every thing up lovely I cannot see anywhere they can go but to change the red font back to white so it's not an anniversary watch .

Put it this way I'd buy a 43mm seadweller with all white font , it's like a beefed up submariner but better in proportion than a Deepsea .

I also see the Deepsea being discontinued in the very near future , the prices of the D blues are starting to fall just as fast as they went up.

Look at the 16610lv.....what did they "change" other than different part sourcing for insert (slight color and font difference) and subtle dial difference? Look at the platinum Daytona...look at the gold GMT.....starting to see a pattern? It's possible they take away the red font, anything's possible...but just no real precedent....

Not trying to take away any warm fuzzy feelings SD43 owners got right now, it's a great watch if you like it...but I question motives of people trying hard to propagate this rumor.

Having said all that, the true anniversary sub is the one released and sold in the anniversary year. The rest are just LV subs

Likewise, the true anniversary SD is the one released and sold in 2017. If anything, the date on the warranty card will most likely be more important than the colour of the text.

It would have been nice to have an engraved case back for 2017 SD43s. Sadly Rolex doesn't do that.

All I'm trying to say is something on the 43mm seadweller must change and the red font is the only possible thing they could change to make the watch not an anniversary model .

The watch is here to stay that's for sure its total perfection the aesthetics of the watch are superb and a glimpse into the future .

If it's so perfect, why do you need to change it? To reduce sales? Thought that was the whole point of changing it up in the first place? Sorry....not following the logic here.
