I think we have made great progress here.

Until next time...

Didn't know watch forum guys were so trivial. My collection is bigger than yours! I know more about Rolexes! Sad.

AP Diver, H Series, DAVIDSW, 9/16/2015: $11975
AP Diver, H Series, DAVIDSW, yesterday: $12175

Oh yeah, utter market collapse there...people are already jumping out of windows!!
Actually Mark those are also 15703's versus newer 15710 which sell for quite a bit more being the latest reference. See a few below from Thanh Do at the bottom of this post. It isn't worth arguing with someone here though. I can tell you that AP under new leadership have made some significant changes. First off they have lowered dealer margins by 5%. Secondly they are funneling many of their better pieces to Boutiques to stop grey market sales and heavy discounting by AD's. Thirdly they have been closing AD's who have been backdooring inventory to grey market. What they have done is force them to take more ladies pieces and Millenaries so they just drop line. Again their focus towards Boutiques and larger AD's who support the brand. Discounts have been drying up for many and the hot RO's and ROO's are harder to get which is now reflected in current market. That is why there are long wait lists for so many of their hotter pieces. You are seeing the opposite of a collapse as stated above. Prices on many pieces as in 15202, 15400 and the 44's have been going up not down. Any way no point in arguing and there are many experts here who seem to know so much. Lastly as for service charges, my 15305st openwork is at APSC now and my cost for service is $840 shipped as they gave me a discount. So without it would have been $950 shipped. So yes it is a $100 or so higher than a service for Rolex from RSC but also it is a $39,000 watch not $7500 so on percentage basis actually much cheaper. Also APSC is second to none...You can speak to them and get updates. They are responsive and always get watch back to me quicker than promised.

Here are the 15710's versus older 15703 Diver:

Now as to the OP: I would trade the SD43 and that will leave you with 2 Dive watches and a great overall collection with some nice diversity! Of course best option is to sell none and just add Daytona if you could swing it.

Personally i find AP is a much better value for money on servicing costs. As ken stated its cheaper as a percentage vs the cost of the watch being serviced.

Secondly AP movements are much more intricate and complex than Rolex's more utility movements so its harder to service anyway and there is plenty of justification for the cost.

Third, look at the finishing of the movements vs Rolex as that also includes cost and time, oh wait you can't see a Rolex movement as they are hidden.

A close ally of mine had an AP diver on strap that he sent in for service as it was running slowly.

His service estimate was over $2300....and did not include a strap. He did need both crowns. That might have included a new bezel set as well...but still

This was about 2yrs ago, so I'm guessing the service costs have come down then..

Is he a member of this forum? Sounds like something was very wrong with it for that kind of estimate, would be great to hear particulars. Bezel is only a few hundred dollars, that wouldn't do it.

No, he isn't a member here...

But I remember the sticker shock on the estimate he got back.

Watch was running quite a bit "slow" so the cost to rectify that, service the movement, replace the bezel, crowns and screws was approx $2300.

I like the watch and wouldn't mind having one, but that bill gave me the willys and I ran away from them..

If you guys are seeing better and lower servicing numbers, then that is a good thing...
