Didn't know watch forum guys were so trivial. My collection is bigger than yours! I know more about Rolexes! Sad.

Here are the 15710's versus older 15703 Diver: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ht=15710+black https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ht=15710+black Now as to the OP: I would trade the SD43 and that will leave you with 2 Dive watches and a great overall collection with some nice diversity! Of course best option is to sell none and just add Daytona if you could swing it.

Personally i find AP is a much better value for money on servicing costs. As ken stated its cheaper as a percentage vs the cost of the watch being serviced. Secondly AP movements are much more intricate and complex than Rolex's more utility movements so its harder to service anyway and there is plenty of justification for the cost. Third, look at the finishing of the movements vs Rolex as that also includes cost and time, oh wait you can't see a Rolex movement as they are hidden.

His service estimate was over $2300....and did not include a strap. He did need both crowns. That might have included a new bezel set as well...but still This was about 2yrs ago, so I'm guessing the service costs have come down then.. |

But I remember the sticker shock on the estimate he got back. Watch was running quite a bit "slow" so the cost to rectify that, service the movement, replace the bezel, crowns and screws was approx $2300. I like the watch and wouldn't mind having one, but that bill gave me the willys and I ran away from them.. If you guys are seeing better and lower servicing numbers, then that is a good thing... |
