A 1952 Tudor
the arrival of my Black Bay Bronze Tudor, made me look at my 1952 Tudor YG plated or filled. The watch is 34 mm. Has a SS case back. The dial is interesting as it has printed under the 'Rose' emblem, 'Oysterthin'. Below the center of the dial, is '21 rubies' and below that is 'shock resisting'. The screw down winding crown is original with the Rolex oyster emblem. It is thin and lightweight. The movement is hand winding. Probably an ETA from that time frame(?). I wound it up, set the time and it is running nicely. Interesting, my cat knocked it off the table and it fell to the floor. Still running. Original plexiglass crystal. Have had it for years. A good representation of what Wilsdorf envisioned as a less expensive alternative to a Rolex.

Oyster Thin 7960?
If there's "7960" on back plate it's probably from the 1960s. Looks to be an ETA 2402 inside. |
