Paul Newman Parade

Right around the corner: Paul Newman’s legendary Daytona going up for auction October 26 at Phillips in New York.

A glance at some Newman styled Rolex watches...

“Why, if they are so rare do I see them everywhere?”
Ever hear the phrase, “frequency illusion”? I looked it up to understand that there’s a phenomenon in human behavior where upon learning or noticing something of interest, we start seeing it everywhere. I can see why with the high desirability, distinctive dial and upcoming auction, that the eye is drawn to any article or reference to the Daytona.

The winner is going to freak out for sure, when he or she realizes the "hit" on the bank account!

Paul's on Parade! Perfectly Prodigious and Punctual considering the what should be a propitious sale at Phillip's this October the 26th.

Awesome display of Daytona's!

I've thanked my lucky stars more than once for not getting the bug for a Daytona, beautiful though they are, it's saved my wallet quite a lot! Interesting seeing these examples, though. Maybe one day I'll change my mind.

Bob, I'd like to thank you as the second-or-third hand owner for the excellent job you did restoring the dial on my rose-gold 1012 (my pics from some time ago, but I happen to be wearing the watch today, I love it). The seller didn't mention the redial when I bought it <aggrieved harrumph> but it is IMO flawless, what a great job, others needing similar work should look to you for advice and help.

For some reason the pic isn't showing up. Here is the link, below:

I wish they still made the Daytons with the pusher style buttons.

Lovely looking pieces but at 37mm they are just too small. I prefer the 6265 screw pusher daytona. They look beautiful. I wish Rolex did a modern version of this in SS.
