Sub accuracy (time for service?)
Hi all.
I recently noticed my 16610 sub has been running -3.5s per day. About 6 months ago it was -1s per day. How long do you wait before a service? I purchased this piece used about 8 months ago and there was no service history. Oddly enough I pressure tested the watch and it was fine. If it is time for service should i go RSC (based in NYC btw). I wouldnt want them to replace hands, dial. Is it better to go third party? I know these are questions probably asked before and I apologize in advance. Akkis |

Don't worry about 3.5 seconds, that is still outstanding accuracy. When you decide it is time, I would go RSC and tell them to leave it original. You can even tell them not to polish, just a movement service.

Any decent watchmaker should have a timegrapher, it reads the balance heartbeat. Pop your watch on the machine, he reads the patterns like an ECG trace and can advise what needs doing.
Different positions also make it run at different rates. |

Yep best way to tell. And IMO you should look for consistency not accuracy (unless its way off) when determining if watch needs service...see if it keeps similar error rate day to day.

thanks for the advice!
Will monitor it over the next month and see where the accuracy falls. |
