How does the daytona (116520) wear compared to a 5 digit GMT (16710)?
Looking for input as I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a ss daytona (116520) but have not been able to find one to try on locally.
I find the fit of the 5 digit GMT perfect - but previously had the 6 digit SUB and found it more top heavy / bulkier then I expected that led me to sell the watch. Any input on how the daytona compares to the GMT for everyday comfort / wear? Weight and size wise (on paper), the two watches appear very similar - so I would expect the fit to be about the same? |

I have both and the Daytona is my most comfortable watch. It wears very similarly to the 16710. If you like how the 16710 feels on your wrist, you’ll LOVE how the Daytona feels.

About the same. Both are very comfortable. And yes agree the 116610 is less comfortable than both. It has to do with a lower case back.

Great - so the newer glidelock clasp does not add significant 'feel' or 'heft' to the underside of the bracelet either? That was one of the things that bothered me about the 6 digit sub is how much thicker that newer clasp is over the older one - but thats a minor point and I can always pick up a different style bracelet for the watch as well.

Had both. Sold the 16710 GMT as it was a little top heavy, kept the Daytona as it fit a little closer to wrist and has downturned lugs. Clasp on Daytona easier to get proper fit throughout the day. Downturned lugs make a big difference on some wrist sizes.

Yeah, I went from a Sub to an Exp II, because the Exp II was less top heavy, but I still noticed it and it dug in a bit on my wrist. I would have gone Daytona, but I needed a date, so I returned to the 36mm watches.

The 116520 doesn't have the glidelock clasp but a smaller easylink clasp.

Wears very similar. I’d give the comfort edge to the Dayton

IMO Daytona wears slimmer and rests nicer than a 16710. But the five digit oyster/jubilee bracelet is smaller than the new oyster bracelet.

What do you mean by downturned lugs? Are they angled differently then the 16710?

Have both and I would also give the edge to the Daytona, but it is very close. Both are great on the wrist

I have the 500. Not the 520. But if you think your 16710 is perfect. Then you should have no issues with a Daytona. They wear the same to me.

Daytona has a nicely balanced weight and is extremely comfortable to wear as a daily. My wife's favorite watch, and she does borrow my LV from time to time, but quickly goes back to her own 116520. If you liked the GMT, you will be surprised with the comfort of Daytona.

The Daytona wears the same if not smaller than the 16710.

The Daytona is probably the most comfortable watch I've ever owned, or tried on. The bracelet is heavier than that of the 16710, so while it is overall a little heavier, it's more balanced than the 16710. Not top heavy at all, just perfect. Like I said, if you like the feel of your GMT, you'll love the Daytona.

Daytona is definitely more comfy imo. Not quite as tall and the bracelet is finished more nicely than the oyster on my 5 digit GMT.

I have both and I feel the Daytona wears smaller that the GMT, I personally find both very comfortable.

I had a Exp11 five series, great watch, sold it to buy a Exp39mm, the 36 mm is a nice size as a daily wearer.

Both are comfortable. A slight edge to the Daytona over the Gmt when both are on Oysters. But the Gmt on Jubilee...no contest. |
