I wonder if the price has a bit to do with it, MSRP was around $6,800 two years ago. I think the SS Daytona has finally reached a price point that has many customers rethinking whether it is worth it to have a $10K plus sport watch!

A very good point Scott, if mine ever turns up I will be wary when there is so much more I could get for that money.

I think it is rather early to say something like that

Give it some time and who knows what the outcome might be

Imaging AD's discounting BNIB SS daytonas that would be really strange

Here is what I dont get

2 yrs ago,, last yr even

people were paying swiss and alan F $12,500 + and some NYC dealers on ebay (very reputable) $13,500

Now you can walk into an AD,, get a SS daytona in YOUR name with a bonifide warranty for $9925 and there are no takers.

Must be the economy.

I got mine a few wks ago for $9200 and am tickled.

Who would have thought the SS Daytona would become common place at MSRP??

Let me know guys and I ll give you the AD's number , website, name etc.

they apparently cant advertise on the internet being ADs. I dont mind helping out a bit.

I spoke with Rolex USA sales rep in the NYC office and he confirmed this morning that the new #7859 bracelet (new clasp) were not yet available in the US.

I've turned down three Daytona's this year (two from one AD, and one from a second AD). All were black dial.

If the first one (turned down in January) was a white dial, I probably would have taken the plunge. Market is definitely getting softer for them, especially at $9925. Heck, even the DSSD starting to sit in AD cases, and you can get them used at less than MSRP plus tax. Same with Z serial Sub date's...right around $4k now, in excellent condition.

I didnt ask Jason.

I dont think mine is a new clasp and its 2 wks old.

I feel bad for the guys who bought these for investment a year ago at 12 or 13K ... what a shame.

The qu is,, is $9925 a fair price for a SS Daytona? Will it keep going up every year?

Don
IMO, the price should have maxed out at $7,900. I can't see paying 2K more for the exact same watch with no improvements made to it.

Don
If yours has the old clasp, then you should go back and get a refund of $725 plus tax!

You are right but the MSRP of the daytona here in europe is 10,002 $ or 7500 euros

So to my way of thinking rolex tried to stabilize the prices between the US and the european market

Yes, and IMO they shouldn't have raised the prices in Europe either.

FELLY, prices never max out due to inflation... it will continue to rise over the years.

I know, I just think 10K is an awful lot of dough for a SS DT.

If it worked that way - we would all be paying a lot less for most of the Rolex watches we buy. Some have had multiple price increases over the years without any changes.

It has tanked (Daytonas)!!!!!!!! I turned down a Daytona at retail ($9900) a couple weeks ago. They are everywhere. I wanted one when they were $7900 a couple years ago, then this year then shot up to $9200 then $9900.

I figured I could buy a couple more vintage GMT's for that kind of cash. Although the vintage market has settled down, the Rolex retail market is going crazy with the high prices. If a dealer isn't discounting new watches, I don't see how they will survive.
