New to Rolex and want to buy Daytona and Sky Dweller

A bit of about me- I have liked watches for a while, and didn't knew much about the mechanical watches until recently. I have owned quartz and digital watches all my life, and for some reason I keep losing them. The oldest watch I have is a Swatch Chrono.

But, mechanical watches are addictive! It has been less than a year that I got into Mechanical watches. My first mechanical/automatic was a Seiko Alpinist (got it from Japan), and my second one was a Tissot (got it from online dealer, no manufacturer warranty).

However, I got into mechanical watches after seeing the new the Rolex AirKing. I wanted to get that one, and then I moved on to DateJust 40mm, and I think both are great watches. But then I researched more and more and I now I am looking into getting the Daytona 116503 with black or champagne dial and get the Sky Dewller SS in Black or Blue dial (if I can get my hands on it in a year or so. The two tone SD in black is available but don't like that combination much).

I'll buy it new and would like to get the Rolex Warranty and had some questions:

i) I can get the two tone Daytona with Champagne dial for 18 months no interest, at 15k from an AD in US. Do you all think its a good deal? The retail is 16900! I don't have to pay any sales tax either, coz of my location ;)
I have seen them sell for cheaper without any other discount in other countries. The cheapest I have seen them go for is 14800 and the dealer said they can give me additional 5-10% more. 15K with 0 percent doesn't seem a bad deal.

But I have heard that the two tone isn't that great or doesn't sell much. Beside aesthetic reasons and subjective reasoning of others, is there any other reason not to buy one. I love the watch and it looks great on the wrist. But can I get it any cheaper in the US with the Rolex Warranty?

ii) Online one can get them for cheaper, some mention with box and papers! What does that mean? Does that mean, manuals and other related documents, but no warranty card? If they include the warranty card, does it mean it has the Rolex warranty? Or does the warranty card needs to have the AD's stamp etc? A blank warranty card, if included, would mean that it has Rolex Warranty or it doesn't? The warranty thing is quite confusing!
Some say trusted dealers and used is a better option on saving the buck. But that is another discussion. I am just trying to get a new watch with company warranty, what is the best route for that one?

iii) The ADs can't take a deposit or payment for the Sky Dweller. Is that true? They did put me on the waiting list though. What if I pay full price ahead, would that make my chances of getting it faster? Some YouTubers, mentioned it does. I travel extensively, and I have been to Rolex all over the world Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, USA (Cali, TX, NYC, DC etc. but no one has a SkyDweller SS and most don't know when they will get one. 1-2 years is they guess)

Honestly, I thought you could just walk into a store and order one and get it in a week or a month max- signs of a newbie! But patients is a virtue, I think the Sky Dweller is a great watch.

iv) Last question, all the watches at Trusted Dealer or Grey Market comes or gets sourced through the AD somehow! Internal dealings and they share the profit, who knows! I would do that too if I was in the business and people are ready to pay a premium. You can see a bunch of them being sold online. If the watches stop selling for a premium, and the watch still being brand new, do you all think, the trusted dealer returns the watch to the AD (from who they got it sourced in the first place) and then the AD sells it to the people in the waiting list? Just curious!

Thanks all.

First of all, two tone watches are beautiful and I have a TT Daytona with white face and love it! Most on this board are big fans of stainless steel Rolexes but there are quite a few who love two tone watches.

You might find it cheaper getting it with one of the sellers on this board such as DavidSWilliams. The watch you buy comes from an Authorized Dealer so it will have your name on the warranty card. Box and paper(warranty card). People prefer watches they buy to be complete with all the boxes, manuals and warranty paper or card. Watches sell for more when it has all boxes, manuals and warranty card. Hope this helps.

The TT Daytona with slate dial is one of my favorites. As for best way to purchase, I can only say that I’ve been dealing with one local AD for years, and I’m very pleased with how that works. You might find a piece for a few bucks less, but for convenience, competitive prices and confidence he can’t be beat.
