I currently own an SD4K but I purchased it when prices were way down for these; I wouldn’t buy one at current prices. I also owned a 14060 no date Sub that I wore literally every day for ten years and never got tired of it. I gifted it to my stepson and I can “borrow” it whenever I want. Love the Milgauss, but the polished Center links and polished bezel are micro swirl and fingerprint magnets so that was a non starter for me. Others here will say just wear it and don’t worry, but if you are even a little OCD it WILL bother you.

So...No Date Sub for the win and definitely keep that Explorer. Someone else suggested an Explorer II polar and that would be a good choice as well.

Congratulations on the promotion and returning to school!

I have both, the SD4K(116600), the sub/C ND, and also the SD 16600 that you could also consider maybe.. The sub/C is flatter with larger lugs, so it tend to wear bigger on the wrist than the SD4K that sits higher due to the thicker case and crystal, but both are really cool watches, and I love them equally. Now if your budget is $7~8K I doubt you can find a SD4K as they tend to go for more these days.. Meanwhile the sub/C is a beautiful modern Rolex, or the SD 16600, also a cool watch with the aluminium bezel narrow lugs, thinner hands and hour markers, super luminova lume, it has a little "vintage feel" to it, price for a good example with box and papers is within your budget. And they don't make them anymore... Maybe something you can explore.

Haha I wish! It's on my short list for watches I'd own if I hit the jackpot lol
OK, let's go sub. A very fine all around choice.
