Would anybody buy a full platinum yachtmaster II?

I recently bought a Rolex Yachtmaster II SS. So far I'm loving it but I also came across a platinum day date a few days ago and that thing is HEAVY!! I love the weight of it. Now I'm wondering if rolex would ever make a full platinum yachtmaster 2 with the ceramic blue bezel... not liking the platinum bezel on the white gold models. What do you guys think about a full platinum Rolex yachtmaster II? Would it be a little too heavy?

It would certainly be heavier the all other metals, and I'm not of the YM period , but if you like it then that's what matters

Don't forget an ice blue dial. The weight would be up there with the platinum Daytona, one of the heaviest Rolex ever made.

It would be for me. Try on the gold version sometime...it's crazy. I can't even imagine a platinum version. Without the perfect fit, it would be extremely uncomfortable, IMO.

Now, if they put the glide lock clasp on it, maybe...

the gold is 266 grams with all links. platinum would be over 300 grams. if you are andre the giant no big deal.

WG sluggish sales show it would have to have the signature ice blue dial or it's a bust. Black or brown CE bezel too.

Platinum is softer than 18ct gold, and therefore scratches very easily. I unfortunately speak from experience. For that reason the only precious metal I'd consider in a watch with a metal bracelet is gold (white being my personal preference). The benefit to platinum over gold is that it's malleable - so the scratches can often be polished out with minimal loss of metal unlike gold where the metal is lost as soon as it's scratched. Note that I'm not at all obsessed over scratches - my watches all have them, and I do think they add character. I was simply surprised at how quickly my platinum watch developed scratches - stainless is MUCH harder, and 18ct gold is also harder...

The YM2's don't sell well. You'd sooner see this model discontinued rather than a platinum model being introduced.

Stainless w/o the blue hands, the first series has the stainless hands and the numbers are stainless instead of blue. This is why the watch looks great. The 2017 and up with the stainless Mercedes hands and the 12&6 arrows is also nice.

YM doesnt get much love around here. So making it all platinum with a hefty price tag makes a slow mover even slower!!

Depends if they change the look so it can’t be mistaken as a stainless. I also understand that the platinum is heavier.

I strongly dislike the yachtmaster II. Now a full platinum yachtmaster with the platinum sandblasted dial and bezel, yes please!
